Quinto makes the front page...

Well, Zach and Leonard made the front page in todays The Times newspaper here in England. :techman:

Surprising as the premiere was not covered in most major papers such as The Sun/Star/broadsheets etc, the only ones i saw this morning at the train station, again in weary eyed tiredness at 5:45 am were The Times and The Metro (again, i love Metro :techman:) which i promtly picked up both.

Im reading it again at the moment, so thought i'd take a pic of the front page as to my knowledge, this is FIRST time Star Trek has dominated the front page of a major news paper, here in the UK at least, and i find it pretty cool.

Heres The Times online site for the Star Trek premiere, complete with reporters cover article and video.

I find it odd that The Sun didnt cover the premiere in its paper. Star Trek details were always being leaked in The Sun for the past two years.

Anyways..

Cool eh...?

Awesome. :D

I've said it before, but man, this movie is making me feel like a kid again.

J.

Metro pics, crap quality compared to the others, its dark-ish here and i have the lights on, the ones from The Times were taken in daylight. Besides, its a 4 year old phone too.

Great stuff. Thanks!

Perhaps Zoe Saldana will be a "Page 3 Girl"...although perhps the buxom "Orion Girl" Diora Baird would be a better candidate. :techman:

Or both, posing as a captain in mini skirt uniform and a Yeoman with nothing but the delta emblem on the, ahem, left breast. ;)

Zoe Seldana was on the front page of the Daily Mail as well. both the Mail and the Times gave it 5/5.

the Fail's reviewer is a non-fan.

Wouldn't it be odd if the film took in double abroad than in the U.S.? What would Paramount's reaction be, I wonder.

I mean from what I understand Heroes is waning in popularity in the U.S., but got a fourth season because of its enormous popularity abroad.

Didnt see the Daily Mail at the station shop, dont remember seeing it anyway.

Well, me and my better half stopped watching Heroes due to other commitments, obviously i get some episodes from elsewhere, but its first and second seasons were by far the best, the quality has gone a bit.

But yeah, the US ratings are getting lower by the season. Its really popular over here, as were all the other shows that were not getting the ratings over in the US, thus, the plug often gets pulled on good shows.

I reckon the foreign market for Trek will rake in the most cash, albeit if they actually start advertising, its got a good shot.

Then we have DVD/BluRay sales to boot, aswel as other countless merchandising stuff, i hope Paramount have faith this new life tey have breathed into Trek will pay off and continue with a few more.

Oh, by the way...

Abrams' Star Trek got a DOUBLE page spread in The Sund today, just seen it while eating lunch.

Break out the champagne? It's normal for the big blockbuster movies to make more overseas than domestically. Much larger audience for starters.

I want to see this flick break Titanic's BO record. :rommie: And that movie made 1/3 of its total domestically, so yeah, therefore it made double that total internationally. Look at this chart of top money makers, that situation is far from unusual. If the US/foreign split were 40/60, I wouldn't be terribly surprised.

As usual, I ask a question starting from a position of complete ignorance. :p

Thanks for that info--be interesting to see the breakdown. Didn't see any Star Trek film son that list though... :(

Maybe this one will break through. Surely it'll beat Sex and the City...

Or Gigli...

We can only hope.

However, with the shitty advertising thus far. Incedentally, i was walking through Lakeside shopping mall yesterday and they had a big lcd screen for the multiplex, Star Trek had two pages:drool: The release poster and, get this...

The shot of the Enterprise being built.

The thing about Heroes is that NBC Universal rake in all the money from DVD and merchandising so they have a vested interest in the series continuing, and making it to 80 episodes so it can be syndicated and make more money.

Some shows will get dropped because the network suffers the falling rating and doesn't actually get anything from DVD sales, so they don't care so much if it does well abroad.
