Question on Fic Length

Is there a maximum length for a single post on this forum? In other words, if I have a story that runs to about 65 KB (i.e., a lot longer than most of the stuff I've seen posted here so far), should I break it into pieces before posting?

Thanks,

Iruka

There's a max length of post, measured in characters. I'm no actually sure what it is - someone who's run into it can probably tell you exactly.

There's also merit it breaking a long story into chapters or segments for ease of reading - one vaste unbroken length of prose might put some readers off.

That's affirmative it's 20,000 characters. I usually post five to seven pages of word document segments for my writing.

Thanks, all. I shall try the first piece of my first TNG one-shot momentarily, then...

Suggestion-the board has seen a lot of new postings and some of us(me) can't keep up-so I am avoiding huge single posts out of necessity. Post smaller pieces, and space out the posts by a few days-you are more likely to get readers' comments. IMO.

You want to know what timing is working well-check out CeJay or the Broken Bow posts. Check time gaps between posts. Of course-if you post the be-all, end-all story you'll get responses no matter what. But there are few gods posting here-most of us are mortal and do our work firmly ensconced in our feet of clay. So give the other mortals time to read...:p
