Question for STTNG/Titan authors

Nick M

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
I find Christine Vale to be a great character, and love her progression. My question for those that have written her character, what actress would you most like to see play her if she was used in a film or show?

Thanks.

(I don't know how to hide like a spoiler, but I always picture Julia Stiles for some reason when I picture Vale.)

Folks have suggested actors ranging from Amanda Tapping to Katee Sackhoff. After recently seeing Million Dollar Baby, I'm starting to see the possibilities in Hilary Swank.....

I see it too KRAD. She already played a US Military Officer in "The Core" so its possible.

Not so sure I see Swank in the role, I thought Vale is supposed to be a stocky build? Now granted, Julia Stiles isn't stocky, but just who I always see when I read the Vale character. Maybe I am way off on this one.

I dunno about "stocky." I picture Vale as relatively short, but lean. There could be a description somewhere to the contrary, though.

Strangely, despite being originally described as having dark hair, Vale has been envisioned as being played as every blond actress to ever appear in genre television/film, plus Heather Jarman.

I thought she was described as being blond in her first couple appearances.

The early descriptions of Vale's hair color were inconsistent -- which is why it was later established (by me, I think) that she frequently changed her hair color.

That's unfair.

I picked women who can act and are able to convincingly kick ass.

When I "met" Vale, she was blond but it was established that her hair was not consistently that way. In SoD she spends a good portion of the book (all? I don't remember switching her back) with red hair. Actual red, not the carrot color we refer to as red hair.

I wasn't specifically referring to you, and I was just being flip. But I do think it's weird that no one ever suggests non-blond actresses.

Judging by the pictures Google dig out for me, I wouldn't describe Hilary Swank as blonde.

And of the actresses mentioned here she definitely has the face that works best with my impression of Vale.
