Question: buying DW Murray Gold soundtracks as .mp3s & liner notes?

Howdy all,

I'm watching the revived Dr. Who for the first time right now, and loving it. I picked up a copy of the score for the first two series/seasons by Murray Gold, and was blown away by how much I loved the music! I'm planning to buy more of them (eventually probably all of them), but I had a question. I really enjoy reading good liner notes, and the notes for the series 1 & 2 score were great; Gold gives some background on each track/cue, which is pure musical gold for someone like me.

I'm debating buying the scores for later series/seasons as .mp3 downloads. If I do, however, is there a way to legally get the liner notes? I'll pay more for physical copies to get the notes, because they really enhance my enjoyment of the music.

Please advise, and thanks in advance for any help/advice you can provide... I usually just lurk and very rarely post. FYI, there may have been posts on this already, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers and not look through the whole DW forum.

Thanks! :techman:

If you buy an album from iTunes, it often comes with a "digital booklet", which is basically a PDF version of the booklet that would come with the actual CD. I'm not sure if that's the case with the DW scores.

Looking at iTunes US, only the Specials and Series 5 have digital booklets listed.

I didn't realize that itunes offered .pdf's for some music... I've never bought anything from them. Thanks for the info!!!

I've seen this a couple of times. I don't typically download the pdfs, but they are available on some albums, when you buy the whole album (as in, not just individual songs).

I've never gotten a digital booklet, but I happened to notice them last week when I was downloading the iTunes-only bonus tracks for the Doctor Who CDs. (It is the exact same two CDs that have extra tracks.)

Not quite on topic, but has there been any announcement of a soundtrack release for The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe?
