Question about The Complete Collection comic CD-ROM

Are the PDF files searchable? I know I've had a few letters printed in Star Trek comics, but I'd be damned if I haven't remembered which ones. Would I be able to search for my name?

Thanks.

They don't appear to be text-searchable, as they're image files -- not text files.

PDFs aren't strictly image or text files. I don't know about other programs, but the version of Acrobat I use at work can definitely search text in PDF files (that's how we archive each issue of the paper).

Acrobat uses text-recognition and should be able to search for whatever word or name you would like. However, if the Star Trek collection is like the Marvel dvds, then each issue is a separate .pdf file and you would still have a lot of clicking and opening to do.

Acrobat can use text recognition. It doesn't do so automatically. On this DVD, the files are strictly visual scans with no text recognition. If that work had been done, putting the disc together would have been a lot more work-intensive and time-consuming, and I doubt the DVD would have been as cheap as it is.

So, even if you go into each individual comic, you still can't search for text.
