Question about "Mirror Universe" visits

Has anyone noticed that someone or something visited the Mirror Universe, it always caused some big upheavel there but when someone visited "our" universe, the reverse is not true:

Let's look at this:

"In a Mirror Darkly, Parts I and II": The USS Defiant brought back in time into the Mirror Universe. Hoshi Sato eventually takes control and presumably becomes Empress. The rebellion making gains against the Terran Empire is eventually put down and the Empire gains technology from a hundred years into the future.

"Mirror, Mirror": Kirk and co. are accidentally beamed into the Mirror Universe. He convinces mirror Spock to take over the ship and later the Empire. His disarmament, however, leads to the Empire being conquered by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance.

"Crossover": Kira and Bashir go into the Mirror Universe, which leads to mirror Sisko into starting the Terran Rebellion.

"Through the Looking Glass": Sisko is brought into the Mirror Universe which leads to Jennifer Sisko defecting to the Rebellion and not helping the Alliance to track down the Rebels. They are later able to capture Terok Nor.

"Shattered Mirror": Schematics from "our" universe are used to build a new mirror Defiant, which repels an attempt by mirror Worf to retake Terok Nor.

"The Emperor's New Cloak": Quark and Rom go into the mirror universe to rescue Zek which leads to the Rebels capturing Regent Worf and his ship.

Now contrast this with incursions into the "normal" universe:

"Mirror, Mirror": Mirror Kirk and co. are accidentally beamed into our universe, but their barbaric attitudes quickly make it clear to Spock that they are not the name people and thus spend the duration of their visit in the brig. No long-term effects.

"Through the Looking Glass": Mirror O'Brien comes to abduct Sisko. Sisko returns shortly thereafter. No long-term effects.

"Shattered Mirror": Mirror Jennifer abducts Jake and Sisko goes after them. Both Sisko and Jake return shortly thereafter. No long-term effects.

"Resurrection": Mirror Bariel and later mirror Kira arrive in an attempt to steal one of the Bajoran Orbs. The plot fails when Bariel turns on Kira. Both return to their own universe shortly thereafter. No long-term effects.

"The Emperor's New Cloak": Mirror Ezri arrives to abduct Zek and Maihar'du and forces Quark and Rom to steal a cloaking device for her. All return to their own universe shortly thereafter. No long-term effects.

I wonder why the effects are so one-sided.

The answer, my friend, is very simple. The ST canon freaks would raise too much hell if even one small thing was changed in our universe. So it is one place where Trek will never boldly go.:vulcan:
You have raised some very good points though.

Good point. I didnt realize it.

I guess it is because the mirror universe is the one that is not the "real" one that it can be easily swayed.

Wouldnt want the "real" one polluted by the mirror one now would we:devil:

It's an interesting thought that events in the MU never affect "our" universe. But wouldn't it be an interesting new angle to a story if it did?

Before the real subject matter of Star Trek XI was revealed, I recall a rumor going around that the film would centre around an ENT/TOS/TNG crossover. Shatner playing the main villain, Emperor Tiberius as I recall, with the Terran Empire invading the Federation, somehow with past & present Captains Archer and Picard standing in his way.

If it had a real effect this would mean, that the good guys loose! A setback maybe, but a real defeat? Never! This ist Star Trek, so the good guys simply cannot loose.

Probably because the MU *needs* changing, and the RU doesn't. :p

From a certain POV...if you're pro-Federation that is.

Who couldn't be? ;)

Seriously, though...The MU needs a revolt not because it has *no* Federation, but because it *does* have the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance. That organization deserves to be destroyed, we all know it. It deserves to die just as much as the Terran Empire did, because it is just as evil.

Hopefully, *this* time they will replace the empire with something that works.

And if Spock's plan works, they will. I hope the writers haven't forgotten it!
