question about duplicate content

Hi folks. I am part of a small company. We offer a lot of inofrmation on our main site about having and eeping a healthy home on our main company site. On our other site, we sell a kit for mold testing of the entire house. They are two different domains but we are in the process of rethinking our approach a bit, though we are keepi ng both domain names but making the latter site somewhat under the first site.

Naturally, some of thecontent regarding information for healthy homes, as company info, is the same on both sites. I am curious, particularly after coming across this article, as to whether or not we should rethink the idea of having all of this "duplicate" content on both sites,, though I think our "reason" for having duplicate content is reasonable, more reasonable than the example cited in the beginning of the article:
"For some sites, there are legitimate reasons to [have] duplicate content across different websites — for instance, to migrate to a new domain name using a web server that cannot create server-side redirects,"

People that might be familiar with running what is essentially an ecommerce site on this board, what do you think? Any tips?

Without actually seeing both sites, I would have to presume that the only reason to have two websites is to conceal the fact that the information and product websites are operated by the same organization.

If you aren't trying to hide that fact than I wouldn't know why two websites are necessary.
