I have meant many gamers, but I haven't been able to meet anyone that plays it like I do. My Question is this: Anyone here every played or plays Quake Live?

I tried it for a while, but there never seems to be anybody on when I want to play, and when there are people on it seems like very few are playing the modes I like to play (Team Deathmatch and CTF).
The original Quake (aka QuakeWorld) is still the best, and there's plenty of free, open-source, modern clients/servers/textures/models/etc for it. It's the fastest yet smoothest FPS out there if you've got the right hardware (not for power, but for optimal gameplay, e.g. a CRT that can do 154 Hz, a good mouse that will reliably handle 1000 Hz polling rate, and a nice cloth mousepad).
Quake 3 has a decent engine, but the game itself is just sluggish and boring, and I imagine that Quake Live, being nothing more than a dumbed down derivative of Quake 3 minus the decent engine, is even less responsive.

We could always set up a TBBS game for a laugh. I'm sure there'd be enough people wanting to play to make two good teams.
