Oh Oh Oh… It’s Magic

Ned reluctantly agrees to help "The Great Herrmann", a famed magician whose animal assistants are being mysteriously killed off. The magician has been a surrogate dad to Ned's half-brothers Maurice and Ralston ever since their father walked out on them. Meanwhile, Dwight Dixon insinuates himself into the Aunts' lives, but Lily is instantly suspicious of his motives.

I am disappointed to say that this show, my favorite show, may be nearing the end. But despite the grim outlook for Ned, Chuck, Emerson and Olive, I will continue to post these discussion threads until the bitter end. We have seven more to see and I will be right here making the most of things. You can count on that.

I posted a thread in the TV forum, but will throw it out here too: If you have a DVR or Tivo or know anyone who does who isn't recording anything else tonight, have them record Pushing Daisies. The numbers for both get factored into the overall ratings for ABC, and they're closely watching the next two weeks to determine if the show will be renewed or not. 8 PM on ABC! C'mon, do it! :techman:

Another genius episode, hopefully the ratings were higher. Though I did not see any advertisement for this episode and there was a three week hiatus since it was last on, nice going ABC, screwing around with Pushing Daisies and Boston Legal

Maurice and Ralston are really terrifying if you look at them objectively.

Swoosie Kurtz is fantastic.

The only thing that could have made it better was for Ellen Greene or Kristin Chenoweth to sing. They probably don't want to get tagged as a musical but what have they got to lose?

Chuck's family is getting quite confusing, as is Ned's I'm leery they are leading to some intertwining somehow.

^ It does seem very Petrelli-ish, with Dwight and Ned and Chuck's Dads all serving together, but I'm willing to see where they go with the watch plot, especially since Dwight has now found Chuck's empty grave.

"Where did I put that Rat's ass that I don't care about?"

Emerson Cob has to be one of the best characters on TV right now.

Way too go, Chi McBride!!:techman:

Emerson had some classic lines tonight. Gonna miss the big guy.

The show works best when everyone is involved.

I like the twins. Yeah, they were kinda creepy in their matching magician outfits, but otherwise, they are sweet. Ned needs them.

I wonder what the deal is with the watches. We have CC, DD, and ??. Do we know the dad's name (Ned's)?

God, I LOVED that line! Hubby and I both got a good laugh at that one. I just love Emerson.

A very good episode with lots of great dialogue. The plot is thickening as to what's really going on with Ned's Dad and The Aunts. I hope we at least get one issue resolved before the show disappears forever.

Above Average. I appreciated the continued attention to Ned's character arc and the progress on the "old army buddy" plot.

"Tell me, when you used to be a jockey, did you ride the horses or just beat 'em after they were dead?"

Some great moments this week and I too appreciate the ongoing character work and a strong end scene. Wasn't as into the mystery-of-the-week this time around though, so only an Above Average from me.

Still extra sad we'll only have another 7 episodes. :(

The show is just as pleasant as ever. However, I just can't bring myself to care about any of these ongoing character mysteries.

I love Olive. I wish she'd sing more.
