Just finished reading "More Than Mortal", what a fantastic fun ride! Author Wayne Reinagel has crafted an epic old fashioned adventure starring thinly disguised versions of 1930s and 40s pulp fiction's greatest heroes (in this version they called DOC TITAN, THE DARKNESS, THE GUARDIAN and THE SCORPION). If you are a fan of these classic heroes, then you absolutely have to read this story!!!
The sheer scope and complexity of the story elevates it far beyond what some may consider to be "fan fiction". It has elements of Wold Newton, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Planetary....but weaves them together in a completely new and original way.
The adventure features appearances of Captain Amercia, Sherlock Holmes, Frankenstien's Monster, Tarzan and many more. The story is loaded with cameos and supporting characters from both Victorian Adventure and 30s Pulp. But none of these additional characters detract or over load the story, instead they support and enforce the reality of this universe Reinagel has created.

In addition to a fun a wonderful adventure story, writer Reinagel compliments the book with several amazing illustrations of Pulp Magazine covers featuring his heroes.
I can not say enough positive things about this book. It was a surprisely fun, escapist, popcorn ride! If you love the old pulp heroes, or are a fan of super-hero team comics, this book is for you! You should definitely check it out.
I recently communicated with the author, and he informs me BOOK TWO: "THE KHAN DYNASTY" should be coming out around December or January. I will definitely be picking it up.
