Was it making a buzzing sound when the HDMI cable was plugged in? Cause mine does that also when the PS3 isnt playing and I can't figure it out

No, the sound on mine was almost non-existent when I tried to watch a DVD, even though the volume on the TV was turned up all the way.

How did you fix it? I am getting an echoey sound through my optical audio input in my stereo when watching movies (but not in games).

I went into the volume controls on the PS3 itself and turned the volume up. Nothing terribly exciting.

Unplugging my TV fixes this.
