PROTOTYPE

PKerr

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
All can say is stop reading this and go get it right now!!

The game is Very,very cool!!

At the beginning you get a taste of some of your powers and right away I was hooked.
I've been playing now for about a half hour and the game is off the hook.
Gonna gobble down some grub and get back to it.

You still reading? Go get the damn game already!! :techman:

I have it preordered, should be delivered Friday. I hope I've finished Red Faction by then, otherwise I won't be playing it much.

If there is one thing I've learned from this thread, its that Red Faction is a good game. That's pretty good to hear considering how disappointing Red Faction 2 was

I've been thinking about this game, but I'm hooked on Infamous right now (despite my bitches about the difficulty settings) and I've got Red Faction waiting. So it will probably be awhile before I get to this. One guy I know that has this and Infamous said he didn't like the controls as well as Infamous.

Nope.

It was going to be a part of it. As a matter of fact at E3 2008 they hyped up the on-line co-op portion of the game BIG time.

... then they cut it. :p

Pissed that we have to wait until LATE AUGUST for the PC port of Guerrilla. Hopefully it isn't a complete mess like Saints' Row 2 was for the PC...

Playing RF Guerrilla now on the 360 (rented it). Meh. Frankly IMO you're not missing out on much.

The destruction is fantastic and highly entertaining ... at first. But it feels like a tech demo with a game thrown together and pasted on top of it. Rather dull, extremely shallow (really, the only thing you ever do is drive to point A and kill everybody), and very repetitive ("now drive to point B and kill everybody!").

Each to their own I suppose. I've found it to be the most fun open world game in years.

The gameplay is shallow at times, but I've still found it to be a much more entertaining open world game than the usual dreck. It shits all over the likes of Saints Row and Just Cause.

I'd agree... I'd say the proof is in the fact that I borrowed Just Cause, played 20 minutes and gave it back. I bought Saint's Row 2, played half an hour and haven't been back to it yet... RF:G on the other hand I've clocked up 12 hours so far.

Also:

really, the only thing you ever do is drive to point A and kill everybody
That's just not accurate, to be honest.

I've clocked at least ten hours in the game and most of it has been spent completing side tasks, which are actually pretty varied for this kind of game. Sure, there is a lot of drivan/shootan (like every other game of its type), but I've done many speed runs, destruction challenges, demolished key targets (which is a bit more strategic than it sounds), defended Faction outposts (again, usually requires a bit more savvy than 'point n' shoot').

It's one of my favourite free roaming games purely because it attempts to break the "go here, kill x" paradigm, and it does so with a bit of success. In fact, I don't think I've come across any missions where the sole objective was to go somewhere and kill someone!

also found RF: guerilla dull, blowing crap up is fun at first but the mission structure gets boring

Enjoying Prototype

To each their own I guess!

Chomping at the bit to get Prototype though. Gonna have to wait 'til next week (boooo)

I'm not sure what I make of Prototype yet. Feels a little too fast paced and action-y but to be fair I have only really done the teaser-y thing at the start and the first mission.
It's fun, but not really grabbed me like Fallout or Red Faction have.

Well, playing through the game now and my biggest complaint so far is that the game has essentially deleted all of Harlem and Washington Heights from the game.,I was really hoping that it would be an accurate rendition of Manhattan but alas, it isnt the case

What can I say. I don't love it. It reminds me of Spider-Man 3 on the wii to be honest. The graphics aren't great, it's quite annoying at times, but there is a good element of fun to it, so I'll continue to play it.

Also I'm really disappointed the environment isn't destructible.
