So ... I don't even know what to say about this.

Prostitutes have to wear reflective safety vests? I don't know about you guys, but I live in a country where children stand at the edge of the road where dark cloths in the early morning hours (often no matter how cold or hot it is), waiting for a school bus that doesn't have any safety belts, and may drop them off at the wrong location. I wonder if that country does the same with their children (with areas, of course, that even have buses).

Anyway ... so ... should hookers in your country wear reflective vests, too? Who else should?

Police claim ... but because they posed a danger to drivers.
Plowing into a street whore at 100 km/hr could really mess up the bumper of your Mercedes. Plus just think of the all the time wasted having to hose her guts out of the grill.

This is a good idea. These ladies need to be safe wherever they are.

^^ :rommie:

I remember happy times driving down streets in New York filled with dozens of prostitutes wearing the skimpiest of negligees and bikinis. Making them glow in the dark would have been like Fantasia for grown ups. :D

The move follows recent legislation introduced by Els Alamus town hall to ban prostitutes from offering sex for sale in public urban areas. The mayor Josep Maria Bea has been accused of mounting a campaign to drive the sex workers out of the area.
Yeah, banning them is probably a sign of wanting them out of the area.

Last time I was in Spain, people were getting ran over in Zebra crossings with red stoplights. What possible good could a vest do? In Torremolinos, all the hotels are on the opposite side of a 4 lane highway from the beach. It was scary as hell crossing that road. What possible reason could they have of putting up a stop light if no one is required to stop for it? That one escaped me.

So now you can see them coming.(groan)

I'l get me coat, the one with the high visibility vest.

(My apologies for that rather gross play on words.)

Colour-coding, eh?

Well, we already have white reflectives for cops and firefighters, orange for road-workers, and now comes greenish for hookers...

Why stop here? Surely these "ladies of the night" walk during ... gasp ... the NIGHT, so they should be like bicycles (since everybody gets to ride) and have a white light in front, and a blinking red light on their backs, and red reflector strips on the back heel of their shoes.

And when they pick a spot and "engage" in the act, orange safety cones should be placed around, with "Wet Floor" signs appropriately placed.
