so far he has accomplished the following:

* huge budget - nice sales job to paramount
* great cast - pine, greenwood, quinto, urban
* trailer indicates the big e is true to form
* great hype - pat yourselves on the back fellow trekkies for your 40 years of support which fuels the fire

i watched the TOS pilot again last night and from the pics released from the set so far it looks as the uniforms and the set may be very true to the pike period.

early thanks to jj and crew. thanks for creating so much excitement. rock on...

JJ doesn't deserve props yet. He will either go down in Trek-history as the man that saved Star Trek, or destroyed it forever.

So this is what the new bridge will look like?! Yes, props to Abrams! ;)

^ I can almost hear all those TOS purists screaming "Yay! Mini-skirts are back!"

Not a good look for Simon Pegg though, apparently.

Except for that big dumb guy("Don't call me tiny")in ST III, when did SF officers wear pillbox hats?

Belar,

Did you guess the booty?

I feel dirty.
The queastion is a bit stupid (not of you, of JFX Online), when the answer is given in the freakin' subtitle!

their logo is super-imposed but still good.

enjoy.
Gakkk! And we thought the uniforms in TMP were bad!

Sorry, but if we're going with monochrome, then it needs some sort of badges, patches, you name it to accent and contrast, unless this is just a civilian suit and not a uniform, but the shot of the the <strike>Alliance</strike> <strike>Empire</strike> Starfleet character with the peaked cap doesn't fill me with hope.

Man, the future used to be so colorful ... :(

A hat existed as part of the Pike era uniform it seems and can be seen sitting on Pike's desk in "The Cage".

Besides hats aren't going anywhere anytime soon they've been with us forever and are fully fitting for a group like StarFleet and its pseudo-military nature.

Well, apparently we're talking about the away-team/landing-party/whatever it was called uniform, not the ship worn one(for that matter, how do we know it's the one they will be wearing and not say the formal graduation from academy uniform or something?).

Very slightly. It does give me more of a TMP/TOS Movies cross look and feel and what a successor to the ENT uniform would look like after 100 years.

I'm wondering how will the phasers/lasers(oh, oh, another point of friction with hardcore fans there, LOL)will look.
Would be interesting to see if they could explain why they had lasers during the cage era, while they already had phase pistors during ENT. I always explained that to a transition period or malfunction of the previous phaser model under certain conditions.

Considering that Kirk and Spock used the identical prop in "Mantrap", but called it a phaser, I always assumed the lasers of the "Pilot" were actually phasers. This fits with Roddenberry's preference for something a little more advanced than lasers for Star Trek.

I agree. So far, generally, so good. The officer's uniform still looks disturbingly like the Genaii from SG:A and Lindsay Lohan's ass would look better if it were green.
