Promotional Item - Rough Cut of The Gift

Hi All. This is my first post to this forum. Having been a Star Trek fan since childhood, this was a nice forum to find. I have been collecting Star Trek memorabilia for many years and have most of the PlayMates ships and action figures in my collection for all the Trek series'.

Having worked for a CBS / UPN television station for many years, who also carried the first run ST-TNG, DS9, Enterprise and Voyager (UPN) we would receive many promotional items from CBS and/or Paramount. The coolest item was probably the ST-TNG Halliburton Flight Case containing the TNG press kit.

One such promotion item we received, and I still have it, was a VHS tape containing previews of the first two episodes of Season 4, Scorpion Pt2 and The Gift. The cover reads like this:
Code:
STAR TREK: VOYAGER
SEASON PREMIERE
"SCORPION, PART II"
AIRS WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 3
"THE GIFT" (ROUGH CUT)
AIRS WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 10
(9:00-10:00 P.M ET/PT) ON UPN
***FOR REVIEW***
The same is also repeated on the tape box spine.

The interesting part of the Gift, it truly is a rough cut. There is no music or sound effects. Only voices and you can literally hear foot steps on the plywood floors fairly loud during scenes. Strange they would send this out to the affiliates. I have never compared it side by side to the version edited for air but there are most likely some differences there too. I no longer have a VHS player to even attempt this, but may be able to find one somewhere.

Has anyone else on this forum ever seen or heard of this promotional item, or is it an extremely rare item?

I can't say that I've ever heard of this but if you're able to get it uploaded to YouTube or somewhere post the link. I'd like to take a look! Welcome to the board!

I have a Blackmagic capture card, just no VHS VCR to play it back on. I will check around and see if I can find one to borrow. Not sure YouTube would allow such an upload, but I guess I won't know until I try. Thank you for the welcome! :)
