Project Runway finale (IMMEDIATE spoiler)

GRETCHEN?!!!

How could Mondo NOT win? His line was overall better, more luxe-looking, and more interesting. Andy, unsurprisingly, did not win. But all showed well.

The group segment was interesting. April(?) the blonde girl with the ponytail who had been all-friends with Gretchen the whole time? She sure laid into Gretchen. And Ivy must not’ve said much that would be interesting--almost nothing from her and she looked calm. Still seems a bitch. Interesting how the final 4 (including Michael C!) were pretty united and some of the rest seemed a bit pissed at them.

Anybody watch, or tape and watch?

I agree, I'm done with this show.

Their reason was really lame, she knows what is in. Ummm how would they know that? She just made what she wanted and it turned out to be in style. I thought the whole point of fashion isn't to make what is in now but to make what will in next year, to change the status quo. It seems they didn't like last year's crazy winner, he wasn't welcomed into the fashion world (what a shock!) so they went with the safe bet.

This show is a failure.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. To me, Mondo was the obvious winner from the very first episode of the season. He just has that something special and creates designs in a new way that no one else would ever dream up. I think he's one of the best designers the show has ever had.

I hated their excuse for choosing Gretchen. That's great that she can follow the trends, but Mondo is the type of designer that will MAKE the trends, not just follow them.

Agreed all around. I couldn't stand Gretchen. I thought her work was boring.
Mondo was TRULY interesting.
I think I'm done.
My wife is pissed.

Who knew Jessica Simpson would be one of the most intelligent ones in the room??

Another problem I had with Gretchen was that it wasn't anything new. It was predictable, things I've seen before and things that could have been designed by anyone. As Jessica Simpson said, Mondo's stuff was unmistakenly Mondo, and could never be made by anyone else.

God I am not alone! I HATED the results last night. I knew it was going to happen, saw it coming when Michael C. got kicked to the curb.

Hated Gretchen's stuff all season, her too, more often than not.

Anyone else feel Tim was smiling through gritted teeth?

Tim has had problems with this season’s judging the whole time. He’s said a number of times that he thought the judges were smoking crack--and that he even had to go tell them (after the runway show but before they judged) what the challenge actually was. The judges were changing the challenge AFTER it was over!

And Michael Kors’ stuff isn’t all that great to look at, either. He’d never make it through to the finale, especially if he had to do the work himself.

He thinks she is a bitch. He was on The Late Late Show and pretty much came out and said she is even a bigger bitch in real life.

None of their stuff is that great!

Michael Kor's crap looks like shit you would by at JCPenny.

Even Heidi's stuff for Amazon that Andy has three pieces in is complete crap.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tim Gunn wasn't with the show much longer, the last few years he seems to not care about it as much. The fact he feels that the show lost it's way will not help.

Michael Kors has quite an ego on him. Yikes.

I agree with the rest of you, by the way. Mondo should have won.

Question: where can I find the comments from Tim this season? There used to be an itunes blog and a written blog on the old bravo website (edit: nevermind--I just found it edit#2: nope, that was from last season...can anybody help me find Tim's stuff from this season?).

I wouldn’t be surprised if he left, but he IS the heart of the show and appears to enjoy encouraging the designers.

While Mondo presented a lot of interesting/great designs throughout the season, maybe only one of his designs in the finale made me think "wow". The rest were not on par with the rest of what he had shown this season (IMO). I thought the collection looked like a bad kid's collection at times.

Gretchen's designs were not overwhelmingly fashion forward in the finale, but I got a lot more wow factor from her.

I actually preferred Andy's designs for the win in the Finale. He too though should have included more wow pieces like some of what he made though the season.

All in all, I think all three could have done a lot better (based on their previous work).

I can't believe you people actually watch this show, let alone care about it like that. It's just so... unbecoming people with brains.

That being said, Mondo was robbed. ;)

I realize my biggest gripe with Gretchen, aside from her *itchiness, was the "cutesy diaper shorts." Who past the age of 5 shlould wear then and who past the age of 15 will? I mean they were tacky every time she made them. If that is fashion forward, I'll keep looking back.

^They remind me of the dress she wore at the final judging (maybe she made that herself?), the black one that was see-through on the bottom, showing off some strange granny panties. Yuck.

OUCH!!

He really didn’t want Gretchen to win and he’s really not fond of the opinions of Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. I figure that since the decision is not entirely up to the judges (the network has input), someone in the network decided Gretchen would win, because if it was Heidi and Jessica for Mondo, and Michael and Nina for Gretchen, that would’ve been a tie.

Network decision, from the start, when Gretchen won the initial challenges.

And the mob killed JFK and we never landed on the moon.

Why would the network care who wins? The network wants ratings and 98% of fans want Mondo to win. So the network wants to piss off the fanbase?

Tim has always been very open about what he thinks of the contestants and the judging.
