Project: Potemkin is delighted to announce the release of "The Old Guys" -- our first vignette (short film) which answers the question put forward by one of our website visitors: "Where are all the old guys?" It's true that many of our regular cast members are 20 and 30 somethings, so we wrote this short script to explain where all the old guys went...

We were even though it was around 110 on the set while the lights were on.

Filming the serious "The Void" this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and we're probably going to be glad the lights are on. Should be in the 30's those evenings.

pretty cool. a couple of observations:

The shinyness of the shirt material doesn't flatter.

The crew comes off as a bit too whiny.

However, That's one awesome bridge!

Junxon: Thanks! The uniform material wasn't meant to be flattering to Cmdr Reigert, Lt Cmdr Shelton, or even Lt Cmdr Cinquo Ramirez. And heck, yes, they're whiny. Reigert's a total boob! They're the old guys who won't be around after this pilot (well, okay, Shelton and Reigert are going to be in a turbolift vignette next month). Our regular cast assumes the positions vacated by these three in this week's shoot.

Barbara: Thanks!

Did you guys do some type of color correction for the final edit? It looks much more cinematic than the clips you had up at Youtube earlier!

Sir Rhosis

Sir Rhosis: Yes, the color correction was done by our editor, Tom Scott. Tom did a remarkable job with the footage we provided him, and a great deal of the look of the vignette is a result of his talent.

Thanks, it was fun to do. Tomorrow night will be intense as we start filming our first 30 min episode, "The Void," which is a serious sf story.

Hey, isn't that Orion_Randy? Tell him we said hey!

Great work, guys. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next. The bridge looks excellent.

I've now watched The Old Guys twice now, and it is really outstanding. Great story, great CGI. Nice bridge too. Looking forward to more. I can tell a lot of work went into this production. Keep it up!

Thanks! The next vignette is an off-the-wall short film that was written to serve as a test of our turbolift wall and our second video camera. The test showed that the turbolift facade worked quite well. And it showed the second video camera was crap. Still rather than toss the video footage, we've turned it over to Bill Walker for clean up and editing, and we'll be releasing it in December.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We'll be sharing this with our actors tomorrow evening when we start filming our third production, "The Void."

It looked great! I was going to comment on it the other day, but my office flooded and have been out since Tuesday as a result. The good news is that it was a large corporation, so it's not like the cleanup is coming out of my pocket. The bad news is that over half the floor has been transplanted as they air out and rebuild the entire floor.

FUN!

Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Sorry to hear about the flooding problem at your office. We went through that three years ago at Fast Copy. Took them two weeks to dry it all out, replace the sheet rock, etc. I feel for you!

I was kinda hoping I'd be out for more than a day. It was great having an extra day to work on my set. ;) LOL.

LOL -- We just spend 4 hours filming 8 pages. We're amazed by the progress. The actors are doing a really good job with the material. Now, I've got to get about 6 hours of sleep, go watch my son in WHITE CHRISTMAS, go in to work for a couple of hours, and then head back for another 6 hours of filming. Then all day Saturday. I'm going to be exhausted by Sunday...

This week, we've had quite a few viewers, quite a good reaction from them, and all in all we've been happy with how things have turned out. We will be releasing a PDF of a DVD cover on our website Tuesday or so. We're still trying to find a site to host the HQ file for the episode, but so far haven't had any complaints about the Vimeo or YouTube hosting.

Our next vignette, "Care for a Lift?" will be available before Christmas. Details to be posted as they become available.

Did you find a way to get rid of that acoustic noise in the background? It almost sounded like a draft was passing straight by the microphone.
