Sadly, one of the 5-6 great SF series of all time..which really lends itself to visualization btw...will probably not get made.

I have to admit I didn't think along those lines for some of the designs but I enjoyed the "look" of the video.

Another idea of a Brin creation from the same contest the video resulted from, the wheeled G'Kek...

Very cinematic though somewhat different than the "official" version:

Is that Brin's design for the Streaker or is it just the artist's interpretation? It seems pretty small, and similar in some ways to Serenity in terms of design.

I vaguely recall a not very detailed schematic of Streaker in the copy of Startide Rising I read, but that was well over a decade ago, I could be confusing it with another sci-fi book.

I don't recall the dolphins being morphed into human forms in the books - I thought they were literally normal dolphins in mechanical rigs.

That was pretty cool. Was that supposed to be for a specific book or just the Uplift universe in general? I haven't read the books yet, so I wouldn't know any scenes that would be recognizable.

Brin served as "inspiration" and judge in the contest. I mentioned this again to him on facebook and he seemed to be very pleased with the particular video.

Right, they had some genetic engineering done but nothing like humanoid form...I think its an interesting take on the subject.

Uplift in general I think, or possibly Startide Rising in some scenes...where the Streaker is more prevalent.
