In this middle grade adventure based on the Star Trek: Prodigy video game, Dal and Gwyn must rescue their missing crewmates.
When the
Protostar crash-lands in a peculiar star system, the crew ends up separated and Dal and Gwyn must work together to find their missing crewmates. They don't have much time, though: the nearby star is destabilized and in danger of creating a supernova. Then Dal and Gwyn discover evil droids patrolling the area, and they look just like the Watchers back in Tars Lamora. How will Dal and Gwyn confront this nightmare from their past... and prevent an explosion in their near future?

The first PRO novel is out.
It delivered to me alongside A Dangerous Trade, book 2 in the series.

Prodigy now uses Supernova as the title of a video game, a novel and an unrelated two-part episode. While this is probably not unprecedented, it stands out to me because they were released in close temporal proximity to each other.

Having played most of the game, I am surprised how different the book's and game's plot details are from one another. I attribute that to the book's length.

Observations:
Hologram Janeway mentions Tuvix.
Her role is, for the first time in-universe, confirmed as ETH - Emergency Training Hologram.
In the game, the main antagonist is called System Slayer. In the novel, it's Star Killer.
Chronologically, A Dangerous Trade comes first.

Good question.
I'd say no, because the story events and character actions/interactions are too different between the game and the book.

A couple housekeeping notes...

First, I hope you don't mind, @Markonian , but I've made a couple tweaks to your poll settings, as follows:
  • Allowed people to view results without voting. If people want to use the vote results to decide whether or not to read the book, it doesn't make sense to hide the results from them until after they've read the book.
  • Removed the publicly visible component. We have always allowed anonymous voting in the review threads, so I am not really comfortable forcing public visibility on our members.
Second (and admittedly, this doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but I don't know where else to put it--and it was at least precipitated by this thread), now that we have Prodigy books coming out, I have revised the abbreviation for the Prometheus review threads from PRO to PRM. (Not all of the Prometheus reviews actually used the abbreviation, and instead wrote "Prometheus" out in full. So I have also standardized them all to PRM at this time.) Since Prodigy is an actual show, and I believe PRO is its official abbreviation, it made more sense to let Prodigy keep "PRO", and change Prometheus, rather than letting Prometheus keep "PRO", and changing Prodigy to PRD or PGY or something.

As always, if anyone has any concerns about the abbreviation change, or wants to suggest a different abbreviation for Prometheus, please let me know.
