Prisoner: Cell Block H

I've seen some memorable finales, but that's about as good as it gets.
Living in America, I only had access to the first 60 or so episodes long ago taped to VHS. Much later they released a terrific box DVD set in the US with 12 of their very best episodes, including the final one. Are you Australian, by chance?

The funniest original cast members on ''H" had to be Lizzie and Vera. But the difference is Lizzie KNEW she was funny.
Vera's best put-down: ''If you think that silent treatment's going to work, Smith, you're sadly mistaken. I can think of nothing better than never hearing your voice again!!!!''
And it took a lot of strength of will for Bea to walk away from that quietly.

No doubt around the same time as the Home and Away thread. Though a few of the stars of Neighbours did move onto bigger things, no doubt the most famous is Kylie, but Alan Dale has done alright appearing in NCIS and Lost.

I do remember Cell Block H being buried away late at night on ITV or was it CH4.

Love this show. I've been watching it on youtube. There were all the episodes I never got to see because the NY station that was running it stopped long before the show actually ended.
I'm on my second time through the show now.

There's a remake being planned. It's being cast now and will probably begin shooting soon. Not sure how I feel about that though.

The title for the remake version is expected to be WENTWORTH.
Val Lehman, who played prisoner chief Bea Smith for 400 episodes, is lobbying to become the GOVERNOR. Irony at its finest.

HAHA... when I first started reading this thread, I thought it was about the old Patrick McGoohan show. Needless to say after the first few posts I was totally confused.

I do, however remember Cell Block H. I was too young to understand it, but my parents watched it.

Where I live (Philadelphia area), it was on right after Benny Hill. I guess they put all the shows with British accents together.

I don't have to watch it to know it pales in comparison to Cell Block 4.

ITV - although each region had their own schedule for the show meaning some showed it regularly, while others used it as filler and such.

Five had it last, a few years ago.

It's coming out on DVD slowly - 32 episodes per volume, 15 volumes and 480 episodes down so far.
