So now that we've had a while to get used to Drew Carey as host, I was wondering - how do all of you feel about how he's doing? I'm hardly a religious watcher (I probably see only an average of one episode a week) but I tihnk I've had enough exposure to form an opinion.

Overall, I'm not a big fan of Drew Carey, but I think he was a good choice to host, and I think he's doing really well. He is pretty different from Barker in that he's more likely to make a joke or comment on some of the silly ironies or moments of the show (when a winner also gets a free supply of wart remover, he will joke about it). He seems a bit more engaged with the actual process of the show than Barker, who was so used to it he basically breezed through.

So, I like him on the show even if in other contexts I think Carey is a pretty mediocre personality. What about you?

Drew tends to mumble from time to time, but I think he's doing pretty much okay.

He takes some getting used to.

I didn't mind his little jokes at first, but now they really annoy me. I just want him to shut up and host basically. His extra comments aren't necessary, especially since they aren't funny and usually just make me cringe.

From what I've seen, he looks pretty awkward. He seems to blow right through the opening bids and straight through the pricing games straight to commercial with minimal conversations with any fanboys (or girls) that may happen to come up on the stage. Overall, a very poor replacement for Bob Barker (however, infinitely better than if Rosie O'Donnell had gotten the gig).

Bored is exactly the word I'd use to describe him. He has no energy on the show. If he was the energetic, playful Drew from Whose Line Is It Anyway, he'd be great, but he's not doing that.

At first he sucks, but now he seems to really be doing pretty well.

That said they still should have canceled the show when Bob left.

I started watching the show a lot after Bob left because before that I had grown bored of it. Drew did get off to a slow start but in the last few weeks has really grown into the role. He has more energy and he is playing to the camera more and seems a lot more relaxed. I find him really funny and think he is really good replacement for Bob. Much better than some of the other names thrown out.

The biggest thing to remember when watching the show now is that he is NOT Bob Barker, if anything he is the anti-Bob Barker, and that was probably the only way to go. Otherwise we would be saying that whatever host was doing a bad Bob Barker impersonation, and I don't get that vibe at all from Drew.

I have to say... I've been pleasantly surprised.

Carey's style is certainly not the same as Barker's. Not by a longshot. Whereas Barker's style was refined and streamlined, Carey is more of a "man of the people." With Barker, the show was about the games and the drama that resulted from the people who played them. With Carey, the show is much more centered on the contestants and their experience.

If Carey had simply tried to copy Barker's style, I think the show would've been a failure. You can't out-Barker Bob Barker; it's not possible. Carey not only gets this, but you can be sure the CBS execs did, too, when they hired him in the first place. Though I was against it at the beginning, I think it's been a smart hire. Carey's style has given new life to the show and I think he'll do a fine job carrying on the Price is Right tradition.

While Bob will never be equaled, Drew is doing well--and the ratings show the fans are really accepting him.

Personally, I feel TPIR has been in high gear lately and have been catching every episode I can.

It's a much different show, but I like him. He blows the contestants' meager attempts at strategy out of the water and says things out loud that we've been saying for years.

He'll keep getting better, but he's fine now.

One other thought: Drew Carey, being an overweight semi-schmoe, certainly resembles your typical Price is Right contestant more than Barker ever did. I also get that 'man of the people' vibe more from Carey.

I voted "Eh, he's okay", although I do think he's a touch closer to being "good, just no Bob". I like Drew Carey, and he's an okay host, he just needs to build on his energy a bit. It always looks like he's falling asleep to me.

He's alright. I've gotten more used to him now, and he's been improving. The flow of the show still seems kind of awkward at times.

He lacks the energy and charisma of Bob Barker. But really, no one could ever replace Barker and live up to that legacy. I still feel they should have ended the whole show and thrown it into reruns or something.

I honestly find it hard to sit through an episode with Carey hosting. I'll put it on for a few minutes if I'm waiting for my lunch to cook or something, but that's it.

Dont like him. The few episodes I did watch he looked nervous or that he really didnt care to be there. Bob made a person feel welcome.

He's doing fine. Remember, he is succeeding a legend, so it'll take time for people to truly accept him as the new host. I for one enjoy his hosting, and have been catching any and all episodes.
