A new news article has been published at TrekToday: It’s Friday and CBS has released promotional pictures for this Sunday’s episode; Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum. In this episode, the crew... Continue reading...
Thank you. I can't help but be very er.. practical here. It is a pain in the proverbial wearing a one piece sometimes, depending on how all in one they are designed. You practically have to strip naked just for like.. bodily functions.
Well you wouldn't want anyone thinking they could pee behind a tree on an away mission now would you?
There is that zip.. but probably be easier for a guy than us women.. Oh whatever, people don't pee on Star Trek
I never noticed their boots before (didn't a wise man once say in a Morgan Freeman voice "Seriously, how often do you really look at a man's shoes?"), but I gotta say: it looks like they're all wearing Nike Frees.
A friend pointed out last week that they seem to be wearing runners, and now I cannot help but notice that constantly. :/
Me too. Every time I see their white soles I cringe. The fatigues that Burnham is wearing remind me of the ENT uniforms.
Finally wearing sensible footwear that's both comfy, flexible and grips well. Wait, no, that's a bad thing?
It's gotta look really retro, or really uncomfortable. And no visible zippers or pockets! We can't have functionality in our uniforms!
For the aired episode, I wonder if they'll play with the colors or the light saturation or whatever in post to make the exterior scenes feel more "alien." In the pics, it looks soooooooo Canada. It seems like they have the budget to make it feel weirder!
I wish the standard uniforms would have used similar blue textured fabric for their side panels than the jumpsuits; it would have toned down the bling level nicely. The jumpsuits on the other hand are too plain as they're completely blue. It was funny how in one of the After Trek episodes the costume designer told that the metallic side panels were an idea of one of the producers and it was not how the costumes were originally designed. "Don't blame me!"
Yeah, she caught my eye too. Also interesting are the uniform variants seen in that pic. Blue-haired alien has some weird sleeve patterns going on, and the silver design around the mid-section appears to go around to the back, unlike on Stamets' uniform, for example. And the girl she's sitting with has half-sleeves on her uniform, along with the gold panel that goes around her back.
Military footwear that's comfortable and flexible? Unheard of. But my only gripe is the color. Not the practicality.
You don't like the different colored sole? I think it's a nice detail, plus you get to see the stripey texturing better.
Not seeing quite that. Her sleeve is simply wrinkled, just like everybody else's. And the silver "arrowhead mesh" design truncates at the stripe that runs the length of the uniform at the side - we see the stripe but we don't see her back. A standard silver uniform, just as on Stamets or, considering the number of lines in the stripe (and the badge aside), Burnham. Indeed. Timo Saloniemi
