I'm going to let a friend borrow my TNG phaser toy for her Halloween costume this year, but I need to replace the lightbulb. I'm assuming it's a 3v incandescent bulb, but I'm also wondering if there is a preferred replacement in the ST community, something like an LED? Those little bulbs appear to come only in multiples and because of that cost a lot to get one bulb. So if I'm going to spend that much, I'd rather upgrade if possible.

I'm going to move this to Gen Trek in hopes of getting your question more visibility. Good luck on your search.

I wonder if they make LEDs to fit that. Maybe ACE hardware?

There used to be a hobby store in my town that sold model kits, train sets, high-end remote control airplanes, etc. You could get individual LEDs there too, instead of having to get a bundle of them.
