Prediction of House's S8 storyline (BEWARE OF SPOILERS)

Joe Washington

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
This is what I think will happen to House in S8: After spending some time in prison for crashing into Cuddy’s home, House is released back into the world only to find out that Cuddy no longer works in the hospital and left some time ago to give herself and her daughter a fresh start away from House and the place that reminds her of him. House is forced to deal with a new hospital administrator who won’t be easily manipulated by him or swayed into giving him back his old job. After House makes several attempts to change the administrator’s mind, the administrator finally agrees to allow House back to work in the hospital but only under certain conditions. He will function in the hospital on a probationary period. He won’t be allowed to return to being the leader of his team but he will function as a consultant for his department while being assigned regular clinic duty outside of his consulting. House is also required to have a set number of therapy sessions to see if he’s mentally and emotionally ready to move beyond his probationary period as a doctor. Meanwhile, House has to deal with the consequences of his actions in the S7 finale on his personal relationships.

I say this as a fan of the show, it sounds derivitive of things they've done before, which means, I think you're probably right. The more I watch House, the more I realize they aren't going for originality, which is fine, because to me, it's a character driven show and I like watching the characters.

We've seen House as a consultant (which never lasts for long) before. We've seen him effectively on probation with the Det. Tritter plot. We've seen him in therapy. We've seen him try to deal with the consequences of his actions.

About the only thing we haven't seen is him dealing with a new hospital administrator. I'm hoping they cast a male actor in that role. Anything else and they'd try to make that person into Cuddy II.

I hope they bring back Nolan as House's therapist. I loved their dynamic and I didn't like how things ended between them in Baggage.
