EARTH, THE MID 1990's

The lead plotter fretted as he watched the secret launch of the cryo-ship Botany Bay.

"Our plans for these genetic supermen fell away to nothing all too quickly. They were beyond our ability to control. They were too power hungry, and far too bloodthirsty. Like Napoleon before him, Khan's arrogance awoke the ire of those he conquered and those he threatened. I was so certain that I had accounted for every factor, and I had. Every factor, that is, except the Human factor. They did not want an overt ruler, no matter his strength. Yet my plans for global power are many, and one will eventually succeed, I am certain. For as is said, tomorrow is another day, and tomorrow is also another night."

The second plotter asked an oft-repeated question.

"Why? What are we gonna do tomorrow night, Brain?"

Just curiosity... why don't you post all of these in one thread?
Am I overdoing it? Its been a while since I posted here. If so, sorry.

Nah, I just thought it'd be neater, and definitely easier. This place has a lot of ficcers, so it never takes long before a story is off of the front page -- if you keep them all in one thread, you'll be able to keep them on the front page longer and expose them to a larger audience.

I'll keep that in mind, particularly as I re-intro my M*A*S*H and Ancient Destroyer series. I'm currently re-editing a long story called 'Telling', which is my take on the reprecussions from DS9's 'The Valiant', focusing on Nog, starting with his reaction to Jake's promised article. The first version featured a little too much of one of my fave characters, so a-chopping I will go.

Thanks!

Here's another entry :

Title : Real Heroes

Author : Rob Morris

Series : TOS/ADU (An AU with differences to canon, like Khan's
timeframe)

Type : Crossover

Characters : Khan, Joachim

Part : 1/1

Rating : PG

Summary : Khan has been heckled from his perch by a master. Now, as his
armies go down across the world, he wants to know why.

Real Heroes
by Rob Morris

2003, The Tower Of Eugenics, NYC

The speech had been ruined. Khan's breakthrough had been taken away
from him by a ridiculous, elderly ex-surgeon from Maine, whose shouts of 'We Want
Something Else' still echoed in his ears. That had been bad enough.

This was far, far worse.

"Joachim, why are our armies in full retreat? What force do the Allies
have that could bring down our brilliantly-led cadres?"

Joachim watched with Khan as their professional, if badly over-extended
forces went down across the globe. On one screen, a ninja clad all in
black turned tanks into kindling. On another, a bearded sailor who
looked like a modern Gilligan but fought like Popeye made sport of
Khan's pirate hydrofoil gunships. Two women who looked the way most
models might wish to took out deeply imbedded gun emplacements without
breaking a nail or mussing a single hair. In brutal hand to hand, a
virtual statue of a man wearing a black beret cut through laser-wielding
infantry like they were made of air. On top of a high cliff, a man who
looked like John Wayne's best characters molded into one being held up a
sniper rifle. Moments later, Khan's best transport helicarrier went down
for all time. Khan yelled out.

"Joachim, who are they?!"

"Lord Khan, remember that your plan was based on your speech unnerving
the governments of the world. Our forces were meant to enter capitals in
triumph, not take them by force."

Khan seized him by the lapels, and held him up against the wall.

"Those forces are still made up largely of our kind! Such men should not
be taken apart so easily! Now who tasks us so?"

"Sir, its not our fault. We hadn't realized this force had defeated its
primary opponent. And we thought they were so much larger and less
mobile than they now appear to be."

"WHO ARE THEY!!!?"

Joachim gave the best answer he could.

"G.I. Joe is the code-name for America's daring elite special missions
force..."

They're Pinky,
They're Pinky and the Brain, brain, brain, brain, brain!

Oh, and it should be "...america's daring, highly-trained special mission force..."

And the rest should say:

"It's purpose: to defend Human freedom against Khan, a ruthless, wannabe eastern warlord determined to rule the world!"

Sorry for the misquote, but the rest I leave to the reader's imagination.

Pinky : Leave? You mean like in a will? Can an imagination even be left a will?

Brain : In your case, Pinky, Yes. It's the only part of you worth leaving anything to.

By the way...what's Joe Quesada been doin' that makes you think of Dubya?

Great stories-and I got the elderly doctor from Maine bit. We want something else, indeed!

Without getting into TNZ territory, I find JQ's decision-making process on Peter/MJ (among other things) to be very similar to the decisions made about Iraq (among other things).

Wow. Way to explain absolutely nothing.

Just to alleviate any mod concerns : I've already sent Admiral2 a more detailed answer in PM (which I should have done in the first place), so this shouldn't go any further. Outside of that PM, I will add : A2, could you in the future just, for example, ask me to clarify or expand on an answer you don't find adequate? That tone was unneccesary.

I'm sorry.
