Pondering the criticisms of NuWho's extraterrestrial location drought, and watching a documentary of the fate of the comos I began thinking of The Doctor's adventures.

The Impossible Planet was a nice attempt at a scary locale, and the Sound of Drums was an interesting visit to the end of the universe, but I thought something was missing. A bit more theoretical science, but not in the story, in the setting.

A story, a cluastrophobic space station story of the type told many times before, but this time set around the absolute very last point of light in all of creation, for me, could hold a certain horror not really explored.

The particular story/adventure is irrelevant, but the setting, the last dying ember of existence in this reality is certainly one worthy of a visit. One that would scare the crap out of me, and one that could get young minds and imaginations working.

Another opportunity, The End of the World, showed us classic Earth, the continents returned to their 'propper' place. Amusing for sure, but a guess at Earth c5bn would have been more interestering.

Am I alone in thinking this way? Independent of the story, which should stand in any setting, but a few moments establishing the location in more scientific/theoretically interesting times/places than a random moon or contemporary London.

Where else should The Doctor visit?
