Portable Music Players

So, I just joined the naughts and bought my very own mp3 player. How do I go about storing and organizing my music, creating playlists, etc.? I have a 320GB external hard drive where I could store all of my CDs and I now have an 8GB player.

Some MP3's come with a program that they want to be used specifically with their equipment. There are others, however, that you can sync right from Windows Media Player. WMP gives you all the abilities that you mentioned, though I think it's pretty slow when you manually change from one song to the other in the middle of playing on the computer.

I've been using Real Player to synch things up, but I had no idea how out of date my knowledge of tech has become. Damn kids, get off my lawn!
