Have you ever asked yourself: What if Pink Floyd and Tool Had A Baby?? Well, you might just have... Porcupine Tree.

An odd name for a great band. One that many (especially in the United States) I bet have probably never heard of.

Here is their official site: http://www.porcupinetree.com/

Here is a YouTube of Blackest Eyes, which should destory most mortals.

And here is an audio of the 12 minute Arriving Somewhere But Not Here. Prepare for eargasm.

Any other fans of Porcupine Tree here? What's your favorite? What do you think of their music over the years?

Already have every album. I am a huge fan of Steve Wilson and of course my favorite band ever is Pink Floyd. Coincidence? I think not. :)

My favorite album is a tie between The Sky Moves Sideways and Fear of the Blank Planet.

I've seen a few live performances here and there. Steve Wilson is just an awesome musician.

Fantastic!

I think In Absentia and Deadwing are my favorites. I like the metal stuff a little more than the psychedelic stuff.

Wilson is a genius, one that deserves a little more respect here "across the pond".

I just ordered the Arriving Somewhere DVD. It should arrive in a few days. I'm looking forward to seeing thier live interpretation of these songs.

Fantastic!

I think In Absentia and Deadwing are my favorites.

Good choice they're my favorite too. Arriving must be my favorite song.

I've seen Porcupine Tree live 3 times.
1st time was in 2001, they were the 1st act of a Marillion gig. Very impressive but very psychedelic.
2nd time in 2003. One of the best gig I've ever seen. That was in a small ex jazz club in Paris and I was sitting directly on the left corner of the stage, better than a front row
I was very impressed .
The last time was in 2005, for the Deadwing tour. I was very lucky to buy the last ticket on sale for the gig just the day before. At this point, the gig was very Metal but still great.
I missed them last year but one of my brothers was there. He told me that it was incredible, they played 3 hours of music.

I've heard a lot of good things about their live shows. I'm looking forward to getting the Arriving Somewhere DVD to get a sense of it.

I was listening to Deadwing on my way to work this morning.

Shallow is just brutal. I heard that Steve Wilson called it "our big dumb rock song".

Great stuff.

:techman:
