Why exactly were people raving about this movie? It's just kind of weird. I lasted half way then had to turn it off.

No I did not. I put it back on just now where I had left it and it's still not grabbing me. I'm playing patience on my tablet while watching it.
I'm usually not squeamish about sex in movies--but this movie really bothered me as it came across as pedophilia based on the story. Yes, the character matures throughout--but she was still naive about the world when she hit Paris. I know that Emma Stone has defended this, but it bothered me nevertheless. I have not read the book.

I left the theater wondering what I had just seen. One of the strangest movies I've seen in a long while. The whole stuff with the pedophilia is discomforting though.
Agreed. The whole concept is weird I mean putting a baby's brain into an adult body just seems super weird

I'm pretty sure it will end up like Eyes Wide Shut where nobody can actually remember anything about the movie other than the nude scenes.

I really liked this movie. I do think the movie sort of looses it's way in the third act then they went and tagged on a 4th act, when the story has been told. As for it being uncomfortable that the character starts off with a babies brain I think that is part of the point. Your suppose to find it all disturbing and abusive. She then evolves as she gets more mature and more agency.
