OK, America, since the Brits won't keep their poll open long enough for us to see the episodes legally and vote, here's our very own poll on the series finale. Let's hear what you think!

Add a FANTASTIC! for me.

I had seen some spoilers, but the way Amy brought the Doctor back with the story about a "daft old man who stole a magic box" was awesome. Watched that scene a few times.

While it was certainly a good episode, I'm disappointed that the alliance of villains disappeared from the story AND they didn't explain who/what caused the Tardis to explode.

Plus, I'm not sure how I feel about the Doctor being erased from existence and then Amy just remembering him back into life. Feels like a cheat. Also, the universe is "destroyed"... yet lives on for another two thousand years?

I'd say that "Pandorica Opens" was a better episode with a promise of huge things to come, and this didn't quite deliver. Still, good episode.

I got the feeling they'll get to what took over the TARDIS in S6.

I wonder since they rebooted the universe, if the Doctor got rebooted too. nu1st incarnation?

Also... the Pandorica had magical life sustaining energies. Why would the alliance of villains want to keep the Doctor alive?

In case hey had some use for him at some future date?

Villains planning ahead? This may be a first! :)

These villains planning ahead might be a first. The Master would certainly have come up with something like this.

Fantastic for me! I loved all the timey-wimey aspects in the episode and how everything worked itself out in the end. Based on that little nugget River dropped on the Doctor before she left, it looks like we'll be seeing more of her next season. And it'll be interesting to see both Amy & Rory continue in the TARDIS; has there ever been a married couple as Companions before?

And I was struck again by how much little Amelia looks like adult Amy. I know the actresses are cousins in real life, but still!

Overall, this season was a really solid start for Matt Smith and the Eleventh Doctor!

I wasn't particularly fond of the series finale. I enjoyed the season on the whole, but this episode and the Churchill/Dalek ones weren't up to par.

I loved the series premiere episode, as well as the penultimate episode, and I very much like this Doctor, Amy and Rory. The finale just didn't work for me.

Very well done. A few bits of uneasiness, but overall no major complaints. How the Doctor would come back was predictable, but I loved the scene from Flesh and Stone coming back and the something old something new moment. They were both really cool. I'll say Fantastic. The first part was better, but it was still among the best finales of new who

This episode was a total "wow" for me. I stayed away from spoilers and had absolutely no idea what was going to happen. I'm glad I did.

As far as the season goes, I thought it had a few low points (Daleks in WWII, Vampires in Venice), but overall was just phenomenal. It just really recaptured the way I used to feel about watching DW, back in the Tom Baker years.

I wouldn't have believed it if you'd have told me I'd say this a few months ago, but Matt Smith IS the doctor for me now, knocking good old Tom out of the #1 spot at last. He's just incredible. Like I said, I've been staying out of here and trying to read as little as possible about the show elsewhere to avoid spoilers, so I don't know what the rest of fandom thinks, but I'm looking forward to watching Smith in the role next season, and hopefully for quite a while after that.

Over the season, there was a good balance between the personal relationships, the timey-wimey stuff, and humor, which really made the season work better for me that most of the recent ones.

I was really glad that it didn't degenerate into Daleks fighting Sontarans fighting Cybermen fighting Zygons...and the Master's behind it all...with Rassilon popping back in for some Jelly Babies stuff, and instead focused on telling a story: the story of the girl who waited, and the boy who waited for her, and the mysterious old man with the magic box. The show's at its best, IMHO, when they stick to that.

Man, I liked this episode, and the whole season. Can't wait for the next one!

Damn Brits!

:scream:

;)

I voted "Fantastic". Sure it was silly and strange and some of it didn't make sense. Just exactly what you expect from The Doctor.

I think Smith has grown into the role quite nicely, after a somewhat hesitant start.

And yes, I think it's time to dump the sombreros once and for all, and move on to Fez's in everyone's avatar.

Fez's are cool.

:techman:

While nobody replaces Tom Baker for me, he is impressing me so far. I'm really shocked how he's able to say he's a tired old man and I pretty much flat out believe him (even if he is possibly the youngest doctor casted). Then he turns around and gives a lot of energy to the role. A little bit lower key than Tennant, but easily just as fun.

I enjoyed a lower-key season finale. I still miss Tennant, but Matt Smith is doing pretty well and I'm looking forward to next year. I hope they explain why everything seemed to go blammo at the moment the Doc regenerated. That seems to be the instant everything went bonkers, and I don't believe this has been touched on at all, and it seems to be on purpose. I still think it has to do with the Time Lords. Maybe they tried to destroy the TARDIS for the Doc tossing them back into the Time War or something. We'll see...

When Matt Smith was first announced and they showed the pictures of him I was extremely concerned, but he immediately won me over with his first episode. He IS The Doctor. I dunno how to rank him against the others, I love them all. But Tennant took me a good year or two to warm up to (I miss you Eccelson!) while I instantly liked Matt Smith.

Has the hat stand by the TARDIS door been there all season and I've missed it?

I loved 90% of it. The last bit was a bit corny even compared to "Last of the Time Lords."

Really hoping Rory remembers some of his 2000 year long alternate life.

Well finally we can stop worrying about posting series 5 spoilers!

And it really was nice for once to have a finale where 50 gajillion Daleks didn't drop in from space.

Has the hat stand by the TARDIS door been there all season and I've missed it?

Yep. I remember spotting it in the very first DW Confidential episode and squeeing. :) It just doesn't get seen because its tucked out of the way, and there just haven't been that many scenes taking place by the Tardis entrance.
