While the series is heading towards cancellation, there's still a chance it could be saved if the numbers pick up from last week. If you have a Nielsen Box or a Tivo/DVR, please record and watch it so the numbers will be reflected in the total number of viewers.

No. The show is extremely overrated. It's dullness dressed up in bright colors and Jim Dale narration. I'll be spending my time reading or catching up on True Blood.

Ah, of course. As compared to such Gems as "The Bachelor" or "Dancing with the Stars" or even "Smallville", which has worn out it's welcome and is now jumping up and down on the mat....I see. That would explain the critical acclaim it garnered when it premired.....

To each their own, but I prefer to have some original programming left on rather than a handful that have jumped the shark or that you have to have the IQ of a turnip to appreciate....

Why even bother to comment in a thread asking you to watch a program if you have no intention of doing so?

I love Smallville. It's a little bit of earnestness, caring, and '30s Hollywood every week. Pushing Daisies, though, I didn't care for, despite being a fan of Chi McBride and (especially) Kristen Chenoweth. Given the descriptions I'd heard of it, it seemed like a show I'd like, but it was, on the whole, notably bland. I think, too, that the concept could've made for a great movie, but was poorly suited to ongoing television; the nature of the format required that the focus of episodes be on things other than the show's interesting central elements. Ergo, blandness.

I came to the thread because I appreciate the efforts of fans of a show to keep it alive. I'm still hopefull for you all, and for the actors and staff members who certainly seem to have given the show there all. But I don't appreciate your taking a disparaging tack in reference to persons who like other shows. We like what we watch, too. Why presume you know why?

I don't watch any of those shows. Just because I don't like Pushing Daisies doesn't mean I don't like smart TV. I just think PD isn't as clever as people give it credit for. Strip away all the Sonnenfeld/Burtonesque affectation, what's left is a romance between two people with not a lot of chemistry and a mystery-of-the-week show with some pretty weak mysteries. It's not just a ratings failure, it's creatively not that strong of a show.

I've said many times that if it were a 30 min series it might've had episodes that can keep people's attention and not have a lot of side stories that meander.

And I posted here because I can, that's what you get for cheerleading TV shows on the internet. ;)

How do Tivo viewers influence the numbers of viewers? Does it only work for Season Passes? Or hitting record when the show starts?

Heh. Well, I don't mind people saying they don't like something if they can defend well WHY they don't like something. It's just grating when people have superficial (to me, superficial...perhaps not to them) reasons for why they don't like something. No offense, Slim. ;)

I used to watch Smallville, and I heard it did get better the last few seasons. However, I got tired of the "Clark loves Lana, Lana Likes Clark, Lana sense Clark has a secret, Clark Lies, Everyone Else But Lana Knows Clark's Secret Lex Is Good Evil Evil Good Insane Freak Of The Week" plot they had heavily during the first two seasons. At some point I might go back and rewatch, as the bits I saw with James Marsters as Brainic looked interesting, but what largely turned me off was that it seemed they had the same contived plot element every week with someone gaining powers through metero rocks and Clark had to stop them while keeping people from finding out his secret early on. I do know they got away from that largely, thankfully.

And I'm not certain how ABC factors in Tivo or DVR recordings, but I do know they count them towards ratings somehow. Ah well...I'll fight til the bitter end to keep it on the air. So screw you Slim! :p J/K.

None taken, but go back and look at my post. I articulated in great detail why I tuned out, and that's after twice trying to watch it.

Well...the end is nigh. The overnights from last Wed. revealed that the only show that was watched less were two repeats of Stylistas on the CW. Couple that with the fact that production has stopped, no more episodes have been ordered and the showrunner is trying to get back on Heroes and what you got is a canceled series. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see someone in this town try something special. I'm much more proud of unique failures like this show than bland successes like The Mentalist. PD might've found success as a half hour show or if they would've aired it on USA where I hear characters are welcome. :techman:

Damn, PD is putting together a nice story arc. Why didn't they do that earlier in the season to keep people from bailing out of sheer boredom? TV producers of the world, listen up: do not "save the good stuff for later." There won't be a later.

At least Heroes has a chance of being salvaged if Fuller gets back to that show. They need someone who is in charge and paying attention because they sure don't seem to have anyone overseeing that show now. The characters arcs are like an insane clown posse careening around the circus ring on an out-of-control firetruck.
