Posting here seperate from auntihill's thread as this isn't a poll or a review. :)

While the series is heading towards cancellation, there's still a chance it could be saved if the numbers pick up from last week. If you have a Nielsen Box or a Tivo/DVR, please record and watch it so the numbers will be reflected in the total number of viewers.

Never got around to watching it, as the network that screens it here never got around to showing season 1 when they said they would.

I record it. 8pm is too early for me to watch TV, but I'm not a Nielsens family anyway so I don't count. :(

Anyway, Bryan Fuller is desperately needed on Heroes. That show obviously has no captain at the tiller. :rommie:

Hell, why not bring Lee Pace as Ned with him? He has superpowers! :p

I recorded it last night too - I missed it on tuesday (Canadian channel), and am always out on wednesdays. But yeah, I'm Canadian so I definitely don't count to the ratings...

Hopefully he won't destroy the demographic Heroes still enjoys... I mean, Pushing Daisies didn't pull in any numbers, and that's worrisome.

Although wasn't he a big part of Heroes season one?

Fuller was on Heroes in S1, and when he left, something went with him - the sense that there is a core to Heroes, that it is about something other than just everyone rushing around frantically from one plot point to the next, the notion that there is any point to the story at all. It lacks a lot of the basic elements of good storytelling and has devolved into a frantic mess.

Fuller's original premises for his shows may be too artsy & airy for the general public, but he certainly has a good handle on the basics of storytelling: consistency, character growth, finding the emotional core of a character or a situation and dramatizing it well. He also does okay on plot arcs, though on Pushing Daisies he just hasn't pushed them forward quickly enough for the tastes of the audience. He's got a good arc going now, which makes the cancellation all the more galling.

Quick pacing is not one of Heroes' problems - in fact, that seems to be all they do well anymore, other than the occasional jaw-dropper surprise, plus of course many of the actors remain very good and at this point are even trying to compensate for the bad writing, which certainly shouldn't have to be their job.

Heroes' basic premise is strong - the good old fashioned problem of "power corrupts," even in the hands of good people - so Fuller's tendency towards too-fluffy premises isn't going to damage Heroes. I doubt he's going to change the basic premise, and I suspect he'll do a far better job of executing the premise than the people now in charge (or should I say, not in charge because it doesn't seem anyone's in charge now.)
Hell, why not bring Lee Pace as Ned with him? He has superpowers!
And a very interesting superpower, too. Too bad PD seems to exist in its own parallel universe, because Ned would be a great character to throw into the mix. He's already so deeply neurotic that he would fit right in.
