Playground Equipment

My elementary which is now an abandon building still has the playground set up. We had monkey bars and a monkey bar dome.

Yep, that Hopscotch game is the same as Heaven and Hell, I just know it with a different pattern, more like the modern one on the Wikipage is done.

Wow, I had no idea Hopscotch was so complicated or had such a history. :rommie:

When I was a kid, we played a game called "Off The Wall" or "Three Flies Out," which involved one kid bouncing a pimple ball off a wall while another kid (or sometimes kids) behind him tried to catch it. This was the only reference I could find on Google, but the game we played was much more laid back than what it described there.

Some people may remember seeing Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari playing this game in the title sequence to Bosom Buddies.

Oh yeah, Pasadena was a hotbed for not being laid back. ;)

I liked hopscotch, too, but few others wanted to play.

During my grade-school years (60's/early 70's), we had log that was painted green and we used it as balance beam. It was indeed to your interest to win because 3.5 feet below was hard asphalt. Good times.

Good. I still think children should just be let loose in fully-fledged gymnastics facilities since it is impossible to not have fun and exercise in them when you are smaller. They are much more fun than any regular playground.
