Is it really necessary to have no less than 9 pinned posts taking up the first screenfull (on mobile anyway) of threads? Bit offputting and some aren't exactly essential if you ask me

A more appropriate venue for something like this would be either sending a PM to a moderator or Admin. If that ability has not yet been made available to you, the QSF forum is also acceptable.
Indeed, however since the thread is here and I'm going to close it I might as well provide the information.
Most of the pinned threads are all reference threads that members of the forum refer to, and contain long running discussions. The three that aren't are the signing thread, which is there to advertise author signing sessions and my two moderator notices threads. One of those could be merged into the other at this stage - I left it separate because at the time I was being asked that question a lot.
Real estate on a mobile is an issue, I do understand that - but I'm not going to get rid of any of the other pinned posts. I can't remember off the top of my head when a user gets the ability to send messages, but when you do, feel free to send me a message if you think any of the threads should be unpinned and explain your reasons so I can make a decision.
Anyone else who has an opinion to share, you too can send me a message with reasons and whatnot, I don't want threads in this forum discussing it. Thanks
