Picture the Novelverse - Characters, Ships and More !

Relayer1

Admiral

Thanks to Markonian for the title !

We all develop mental images while reading - that character, ship or whatever may actually have an illustration somewhere on a novel cover, magazine, online or elsewhere. This is a chance to develop a resource for readers where you can find out just what they look like whether it's the ships of the Voyager fleet, new Starfleet uniforms, the NX refits or the colour of someones hair.

Please add what you can - it's over to you...

My version of Captain Kat Mueller of the USS Trident. The actress in question is Michaela McManus.

Yeah, we already have a cast the characters thread, so it's probably be best to limit this one to stuff that actually shows the characters/ships/ect. how they would appear in the books. So if you're going to use photos they should probably be photoshoped or somehow altered so they represent the character and not just pictures of who would play them.
I'll leave to finalized rules to Relayer1, but that's my take on it.
I did have some very rough Photoshops I did of several characters that I was going to post. But all I could find was copies in a word document, and it wouldn't let me copy them onto the boards.

^Yeah, my understanding is that this thread is for collecting existing novelverse art/designs in one place.

The Cross Cult pictures are a good way to start, Imho. Recently, the Excalibur-A made it to the cover of Excalibur: Restoration/Restauration.

I don't want to set hard and fast rules (or set myself up as a sort of mini-mod). I'll be happier reading this thread than trying to police it !

The general idea behind it was to gather images from book covers, ships of the line, the internet etc. in one place, but that is not to say that other stuff is banned. As posted though, there is already a 'Cast the Novelverse' thread.

The german covers really are fantastic. I would love to see a resource of them, or some higher quality posts. [Most of the ones that turn up on google are pretty low quality.]

I've been meaning to try and swap some of my ebooks with the german covers, but I'm not sure if that's possible for the ones purchased off of amazon.

Wait, that's supposed to be Ezri? It doesn't do her justice.

It took me a few minutes to figure out who it was supposed to be too. I got Ro straight away - the hair, the mole - but Dax took me a sec.

Very cool. Did you make those yourself?
No, I accidentally found the picture on the web when I was googling for an image of Captain Ro Laren and thought it would be neat to add it here. :bolian:

It would be interesting to know where they came from, though, because they're obviously Lit-based, not TV-based.

As for other images of cast members, I found these images of the USS Titan's crew on deviant.art - here, here, here - and I always go back to Geoffrey Thorne's thread (TTN: Sword of Damocles author) and his cartoon-style drawings here. Some of them are not entirely how I envisaged them, but it's a good place to start.

Yikes. Why do so many people assume that Dr. Ree is an upright, human-shaped biped when the books make it clear that he's shaped like a theropod dinosaur? They're thinking Gorn when they should be thinking Utahraptor.
