bit similar to those 'hero from behind' posters for likes of TDK, Inception, STID etc (which may have been started with Unforgiven)

Worked his dog into it, I see.

I'm getting a big Firefly vibe from that costume.

Edit to add: there's an animated version on the CBS Instagram, which includes the date of the comic con panel. Trailer is forthcoming!

Star Trek Picard: Episode 1 Synopsis

"After retired Admiral Picard's dog attacked and killed a toddler, Picard is forced to flee with the dog to Romulan space to escape extradition."

Seriously though, fuck pitbulls. This doesn't ruin the show or anything, but as someone who got chased up a car by a pitbull (for no other reason then it saw me walking by) this will be the one show I watch where I'll be actively hoping to see the dog (by this I mean the fictional character, not the dog actor, obviously) get killed. Also, don't start that "its the owner, not the dog" BS. Pitbull's are predisposed to attacking people and other animals even if they are raised by loving owners who pamper them. Literally the worst dog species possible to choose for the show, unless Picard is supposed to be a villain.

Like I said, the dog is a non factor in my potential enjoyment of this show, which I'm still excited for, but its a bizarre and stupid choice.

but its a bizarre and stupid choice.
Patrick Stewart likes Pitbulls, it was probably his idea, or one of the writers playing into his likes.

Also you overreact to everything. "I was changed by a pitbull once so they're all bad" Buzz off, not all Pitbulls are bad dogs, it depends on how they are raised, despite what you said on the contrary.

I'm hoping for a Falcon Crest-style soap opera set in the 24th Century vineyards of Chateau Picard, with Jean-Luc serving as the male equivalent of Angela Channing.

*For those too young to have heard of it, Falcon Crest was a 1980s night-time soap, which was more glamorous and outlandish than Dallas, but not quite as ludicrous as Dynasty.

This poster was just what I needed to keep my excitement up for the coming months. Love his outfit, the arcologies worked into the rural French scene, the colors, the lil' starfleet arrow pendant on his dog's collar, and to be fair, I didn't even notice the dog's breed until it was pointed out in this thread. I suspected what it might be, but I didn't think it was important, really.

Another cannnon violation, Earth's moon is too big! (assuming that's what the giant circle is supposed to be)

As for the breed of dog, let's stop looking at things from today's knee-jerk viewpoints. Undoubtedly, the aggressiveness has been genetically engineered out of pitbulls by the 24th century. I assume the ban on genetic engineering wouldn't apply to lifeforms like dogs, cats, plants, etc. While the shortage of transhumanism in Trek has been lamented on occasion, perhaps there is still some possibility of showcasing transcaninism.

Oh I am loving the look of this - cute dog too, love the Starfleet collar. Can't wait to find out what Picard named him haha

And yet you felt the need to make a long rambling diatribe about how you hate pitbulls because of one negative experience, which has nothing to do with the Picard show, and that nobody else cares about but you (and I suppose the one guy who liked your post for whatever reason).

Now let’s get back on topic: I think the dog is Picard’s version of Phantom Nexus Kirk’s Butler. That’s right: Picard is still in the Nexus. I will continue to beat this dead horse with every piece of evidence I get no matter how small.

I know it's for Patrick Stewart's benefit, but Picard never really struck me as a dog person. Hopefully the show won't have any dune buggy chases.

I'm hoping for "Aramis," the only one of the Musketeers whose name hasn't appeared in Trek in some form (that I'm aware of).

Definitely sounds better than Jean-Luc Puppard. But I'm gonna call him Jean-Luc Puppard nonetheless, until we find out his real name.

I keep thinking about the names Napoléon and Lafayette, but only because I've loved Disney's The Aristocats as a kid though, and these two always come to my mind whenever France and dogs appear in the same train of thought :D

Patrick Stewart was against Picard owning a fish, but he seems to be fine with owning a dog I guess,
