Picard as a way to correct Nemesis

After seeing the whole series, it seems the Picard show serves as a proper ending to Nemesis. It's as if they're trying to correct it. Was this something that attracted Stewart and Spiner to the project? I'm just curious. They know it isn't the most popular movie with the fans.

I'm torn on this. On one hand, Data gets a proper farewell speech. On the other hand, I don't think it's ever a good idea to bring a character back just to kill him again. On the third hand, "Data" wasn't really Data, but a near facsimile cobbled together from pieces and not necessarily the entire original. So going back to the Nemesis themes, he was the "echo" saying the "voice" is gone and as such the echo must fade into the black.

However, that also seems counter to what Data said in Nemesis, which is that he always strove to be more than what he was. Even as he was, does it seem right that Data would volunteer to be discontinued? Thematically, it works as described in my 1st paragraph, but it doesn't gel with the character.

Golem-Picard is, naturally, the good Picard clone to Shinzon's evil clone. /s

Kind of a correction but more an epilogue.

I don’t think they had any intention of correcting NEM (Stewart had no need to do it and the fans and studio have moved on). It just happened.

I kind of don’t get why they killed Data again though. The series is called PIC. They might have overplayed the Data card. Though, I guess it was just an organic result of discussing synths/refugees. Data came into more prominence, and then why not also do a sci-fi bit about mortality given that Picard is certainly thinking about it on a less than sci-fi level?

I think Nemesis would've been improved if so many of the character scenes weren't cut and if the action scenes were cut in half. As much as I enjoy watching the Enterprise smash into the Scimitar, medium-budget Early-2000s action sequences and special effects don't age that well.

Data's death would've been better if the set-up for it hadn't been so stupid. "Ooops! The transporter is busted!"

I don't think Nemesis needed "correcting" from that aspect of the story. Yes, the rest of the movie was a fucking hot mess, but if we're talking specifically about the Data death scene and fallout, that always seemed extremely well done to me and had real emotional clout. But that's just me.

Doesn't mean I hate the "epilogue" (as someone else put it) of Data and Picard meeting again and having the chance to say goodbye. That was well done too. IMO.
