Picard and Beverly Attached

Thanos007

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
What was up with that episode? Where they trying to sink that ship or reinforce it? The ending seems needlessly ambiguous, what with Beverly pausing out side the door and thinking about what happened. Especially since she plays verrry into a romantic relation ship with Jean-Luc and then turns on a dime. I don't care either way it just seems to be very confusing and the only purpose it serves is to either put wind in the sails or sink the ship. There is so much dialog and actors choices that work at cross purposes for either choice I find it very frustrating.

Me thinks you are taking this P/C thing too seriously. I don't think this was even that much of an issue vack when Naraht and Crusher Disciple, etc were doing threads all about them.

On other hand, they should have done something like this with Tuvok and Neelix on Voyager. Imagine them spending a few days reading each other minds. Tuvok would go mad.

They could have gone deep with the concept and had Beverly think of Jack and then Picard think about his guilt over what happened to him, and could have used it as an episode where they both sort of get over it

They did... And why would they have a follow up episode? Wait...they got married didn't they.

They made the wrong choice at the end. Picard had learned his lesson in Lessons about having a romantic relationship with a fellow crew member. They should have had Beverly approach him about the topic and him gently rebuff her.

The real question is, why did those devices give them a mental connection? Sounds like a plot convenience to me.

Meh. it's not exactly realistic.

As for the devices, yeah they were plot devices. The Kes could have suggested using the technology to confirm Starfleet's side of the story...I wouldn't buy the idea only the Prytt had such technology.

If they had that episode today it would have gotten them together. In 1994 they didn’t want to disrupt the status quo of relationships between characters. But it was the last season so they had to materialize their relationship somehow even if they used professional responsibility as an out.
