Physical Model Help Needed

I'm looking for a model of a Russian rocket, perhaps a Vostok, that can be used on the set of our ready room for Project: Potemkin.

If anyone's already built one that they're willing to part with, and would like to see it enshrined in a fan film, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Thanks!

^ That's an excellent idea... I was actually considering doing that with a model of the Gemini capsule, because a lot of those old Revell plastic NASA kits are VERY expensive now.

BTW, would anyone here know where I can download a good-quality card model of the TOS shuttlecraft?

Not going the CGI route for a reason? I know physical models can be better looking if done correctly, but that sort of trick photography is not easy.

Axeman, if I understand correctly, I think the OP means that he wants to use a model as a set piece, like Picard's Stargazer model, that would be seen somewhere in the Ready Room. I don't think he's gonna use this as a shooting miniature.

That being said, then aye, for a background set piece/prop, a well-built paper model would look just as good on the screen as a plastic model, and likely nobody'd be tellin' the difference, because of how background objects are oft a bit out of focus a bit, and look small on the screen.

Yeah, if those tabletop models in various ready rooms were built with more detail, we'd have a better idea of what they were supposed to be.

Though I think they are plastic kitbashes, maybe a closer camera shot would have helped.

I found a cool paper Vostok model, but unfortunately the link to the original source is broken with a Swedish/Norwegian explanation that didn't translate well.

I've found an Apollo/Soyuz Revell kit I'm bidding on, but doubt I can get into a bidding war for it.

And yes, it's going to be on Captain Grigory's shelf, much as the Stargazer was, along with some other unique mementos. A digital model would be out of the question.

Have you tried any of the online hobby stores? I seem to remember a kit of the Vostok some time back and think it was through Squadron.

I've tried Googling Vostok model. I keep finding very beautiful (and tres cher) Vostok models that actually fly. I searched for Soyuz and found some very beautiful (and tres cher) wooden models built on demand. Fortunately, I appear to be on the track of the Apollo/Soyuz thing, and I've got my fingers crossed.

Did anyone have a good link for one of the paper models?

For a tos shuttle try this link, not built it so not sure what it’s like

not sure if this one will help . but about three quarters of the way down this page I found a soyuz model that might be ok. theres a few more on here that might be what you want built the larger Apollo capsule a few years back and it was pretty easy not sure about the smaller ones and how easy they are to build

No luck there, but plenty of cool paper models, to be sure.

That's perfect! Thanks! If I don't get the Apollo-Soyuz revell kit, then at least I can get a paper model.

Whups...saw I was beaten to the punch..please disregard.. ;)

I appreciate the pointer anyway! Thanks!

That's a good shuttle model... downloaded! The other site with the Buran and Energia is cool, too.

I just saw a video on YouTube, where a guy was doing a build from the AMT/ERTL TOS Enterprise that comes in the tin box. His tin box model came with a poster of the box art... mine did not. WTF? LOL... now I feel jipped. I also noticed that the plastic his model was molded in was an off-white, and mine is like a blue color. Man... I didn't know a poster was supposed to come with the tin box version, and now I never got the poster... :(
