Just noticed something: isn't that first poor redshirt Commodore Wesley from "The Ultimate Computer?"

Looks like he either got promoted or possibly reincarnated ...

^ Yes, Commander Giotto was played by the same actor who later portrayed Commodore Wesley (though I had no idea of that until you pointed it out).

On the other hand, Lieutenant Freeman was identified as "security chief" in the credits of "Assignment: Earth".
