Photos from the sets of Lost

I was on Oahu a couple weeks back, and took out some time to visit some of the places they film Lost. It was pretty cool to drive down a road and come across 'Otherville', or hike along the beach and see the 815 survivor's camp.

Lost Set Photos

I didn't take a photo of the mortuary (where Locke's funeral was), but we did drive by it (it's just an empty storefront). The other places were pretty cool to visit.

Now that is downright awesome, beautiful place, would love to visit sometime. Is Otherville like real residences or camp out places or is it just all set built only for Lost.

That is soooo cool! Thanks for posting these.

Hope you had a good time on vacation.

Otherville looks like it might be some kind of hotel or retreat-type cottages. Also, are people guarding the beach sets? Seems pretty risky to let people get close.

*sigh* Someday, before I die, I *will* make it to Hawaii.

I had to go to Hawaii for work, and found it a pain in the butt to get around. The Lost set visits were definitely a highlight, though!

Otherville is a YMCA Camp - Camp Erdman. You just drive down this road on the North Shore - almost to the farthest point you can drive (in a rental car), and it's just sitting there, on the mountain side of the road. (The beach is literally across the street). I believe Lost did some improvements (built the gazebo), and they still have one structure that is 'blown up'. But you can get out and walk around.

In some of the pictures of the beach set, you can see a truck parked there. There is a guard 24/7. There's also orange 'fencing' that is up, to keep people out. In Hawaii, all beaches are public, but the private property starts at the vegetation line. That's where the fence is.

Film is still going on, but they weren't filming while I was there (I visited the beach camp on a Sunday afternoon). They do keep the beach camp set up all the time, though.

Pretty cool. Went skydiving at that little airfield last time I was there :) Looked around and saw the "otherville" site, but must not have picked quite the right area for the beach scenes, although I've wandered most of that area.

I should try and dig up some old pictures, i was on Waikiki for the preview of the Season 2 premiere, they did the whole red carpet thing, interviews with all that cast, then we watched the episode on the big screen at the end of the beach, a week before it aired :D
