http://abcnews.go.com/Health/slideshow/phil-collins-retires-health-problems-6638908 Nothing but kudos for all the work he's done, both with Genesis and as a solo artist...
Damn shame. Collins was one of the best. Well played, Phil. Did Genesis ever manage to record any new material?
Unfortunately, no. They went on reunion tours and released box sets of earlier material and live recordings, but they hadn't been together in the studio for years...
I know he got a lot of criticism, but I enjoyed his work. I saw him live on the No Jacket Required Tour back in 85 or 86. It was a great show, and I had a lot of fun. I hope he can recover from all of his medical problems, that's a lot of put on someone at only 60 years old.
Sorry to hear. I remember back around 1990-1992 he always seemed to be on every channel of my local radio stations. After that I lost track. I guess now I know why.
That's a shame. I hope he continues to write songs. His website paints a slightly more cheery picture than the alleged interview in FHM:
I'm not a fan of his solo material, or of Genesis with him as a frontman either. But he is a tremendous talent, and i'm always sad for any musician who is forced to give up what they love to do.
