Let's have some nerdy fun and ask the age old burning question, "Who would win in a fight?"

Also, since I'm me, let's add this special twist: the combatants in each contest will be two genre characters that have been portrayed by the same actor or actress. Your mission, should you choose to accept it is decide who would emerge victorious if some kind of timey-wimey stuff brought the pair of characters together and they came to blows, or if they would ally themselves to face an even bigger threat.

And we shall start with ladies first:

CAPTAIN PHASMA vs. BRIENNE OF TARTH

(portrayed by Gwendoline Christie)

One is the shiny new armored face of the evil First Order, the other is a ronin-like knight determined to serve an honorable master. One is trained in all the latest high-tech weaponry of a galaxy far, far away, the other has only her sword and her courage to stand against implacable foes. Phasma would seem to have the advantage because she's a Stormtrooper and carries a blaster...but stormtroopers with blasters have comically bad aim, so Brienne might get a killing stab in an armor weak spot if she's quick.

Who will carry the day? Will Phasma put down Brienne's insignificant resistance, or will Brienne earn for herself great honor and glory by dispatching this foe?

PHASMA: "Your helmet's off, trooper. Report to my garrison for debriefing."

BRIENNE: "Maybe you were as good as people said...once. Or maybe people just like to overpraise a famous name."

What say you, Little Tall?

I think Phasma would win. She has a blaster, which is an automatic tactical advantage. (As far as the stormtroopers are bad shots, I think that's a slight exaggeration of the simple movie rule that the villains never hit the heroes when they're not supposed to. Even if you disregard that, the First Order troopers are shown to be better shots than old era troopers.)

Phasma got taken down by a Wookiee with a simple tackle and intimidated into pushing a button. Brienne took on a seriously pissed off bear with a pointy stick and won. I'd call that advantage: Brienne. ;)

I'm going to have to go with Brienne mainly because GoT's writers served her character much better than Episode VII's writers served Phasma...

A human getting taken down by a Wookiee in an ambush is always going to be in the Wookiee's favor. And she wasn't intimidated into pushing the buttons, as she explained: "You can't be so stupid as to think this will be easy. My troops will storm this block and kill you all." (Also, the novelization establishes that a major reason the base's staff couldn't regain control was because Han, Chewie, and Finn destroyed the systems after Phasma did her thing.) She thought that lowering the shields would have no bearing on the First Order's victory (wrong, but she wasn't crumbling under minimal pressure; she had been ambushed by a Wookiee and had a gun to her head).
