PETA sets it sights now on.... 1988 video games! In the new Mario 3D they argue that Mario's Tanooki dress (originally from Mario 3) tells kids that it's okay to wear fur.

:guffaw:

I've no idea what they're going for in that ad it's just...

What?!

Seriously, PETA, it's decades past time for you to get over yourselves and realize we need to use animals for many things and they're not all entitled to complete 100% safety from our use.

It's likely because it appears again in Super Mario Land 3D, or whatever the new game is called for the 3DS. But yeah, seriously? They might as well get angry about the frog costume.

Who would have thought that you can make women undress solely by playing videogames.

Following this logic, I should have had a constant parade of naked women streaming through my house when I was a teenager.
Now I'm jealous of PETA?!?!?!

PETA! Now more irrelevant than ever!
Agreed.

I heard about this over on another board I'm on and I thought it was rather silly of them to go after a pretend video character who was wearing a costume.

Not real fur.

Indeed. In the game what "evidence" is there that Mario slays the animals and uses their hide as the costume? It could be made of mushroom polymers for all we know.

And let us not forget the hypocrisy in PETA, one of their key members -and I'm sure many other members- is diabetic.

Diabetic in the sense they need insulin shots to maintain a healthy blood-sugar level.

Insulin that is derived from pig's blood.

Oh, and let us not forget they kill more animals in their shelters and homes than they save.

They deny pretty much all of medical science by claiming animals testing isn't useful in helping humans. (Even though pretty much all of medical science including cures and procedures done every day all began in animal testing.)

And they're pretty much have openly supported terrorism.

Ugh.

PETA is so full of shit.

But they won't, because frogs don't have fur. :p ;) PETA silliness/insanity as usual.

Mario Bros 3. Considering that Tanuki have a sort of religious aspect to them, I don't think the implication is close to the idea that Mario is skinning one and wearing it.

I never took as him using actual animal skin either more that it was a furry costume.

Yes, even as a kid playing that game I thought Mario was a furry-based pervert. He kills the sprites in the game by trying to yiff them.
