Paul Cargille Starship Designs/Romulan War Patrol Ship

Tranya_2K9

Does anyone know if there's a cached version of Paul Cargile's Starship Design website? I'm looking for a particular design of his and the links I did find are dead ends. He used to have a really good website back in the day.

I'm looking for a design he had on there. It was of an Earth patrol ship from the Romulan War, complete with a brief class history. This design looked vaguely similar to the conjectured design for the S.S. Valiant. But it had a nuclear missile launch pod mounted on top.

If anyone can help, that'd be great. Or if Paul Cargile's on here, maybe he can shed some light on this. Thanks. :bolian:

Yeah, I know. SFR is good but it's not what I'm really looking for. but that's not what I'm looking for.

Here's the page on SFR with a link to Paul Cargile's STARSHIP DESIGN site. That's what I wanted. Go here, click on Cargile's link and see what happens.

And then I tried e-mailing Mr. Cargile but I got an undeliverable message instead. So who knows. Too bad because Cargile had a good site too.

You might wanna try looking through The Starfleet Museum site by Masao Okazaki (link):

Don't think any of the designs are by Paul, but you might find something similar to what your looking for.

Also, have you tried contacting him at this address?

paulscargile@hotmail.com

I found a site that has a lot of Paul's designs incorporated (apparently with his permission) into it, perhaps what you seek is here:

Still no good. The email came back undeliverable. And the GeoCities site did have some of the other designs like the Hyperion Class, that were previously on Cargile's STARSHIP DESIGN site.

But no Romulan War patrol cruiser. And the Paul Cargile link on GeoCities still turns out to be a dead end going to some build-your-own-website page.

I will describe the cruiser though, from what I do recall. However I saw it back in 1999, so memory might be a little hazy.

It looked vaguely similar to the conjectural SS Valiant design shown in the Okuda ST Chronologies. The big difference though was the launcher pod for nuclear missiles that was thrown on top of the hull.

Maybe someone else remembers it too.

The Hyperion class in the museum was designed by Paul Cargile. He drew a side view for a speculative series of ships linking Daedalus and Enterprise, and I drew the 3 other views.

Hey Masao,

Yeah I still remember that page you did with Cargile. I still see Hyperion and Asia classes in the SF Museum now.

But Cargile's Starship Design site had pages with drawings for two different kinds of ship than the Trek norm of saucers, nacelles, and even tubular hulls:

1. Romulan War patrol ship- This was the Romulan War Earth ship I've really been on the hunt for. Single hull, ABSOLUTELY no saucer section. Two nacelles. Looked like the conjectural SS Valiant, http://www.neutralzone.de/database/PreFederation/21thcentury/SS_Valiant.htm
with a boxy nuclear launcher pod on top, luggage-rack style.

Now that I think about it, your San Francisco Class ship in The Museum comes pretty close. Just imgine that with the missile pod on top and you have a good idea where I'm coming from. Here:
http://www.starfleet-museum.org/sanfrancisco.htm

Close but no cigar, though.

2. Richter Jan's Wormhole Gating Test Vehicle- A hodge-podge of starship pieces such as a Daedalus primary hull, a Connie Engineering section, an empty Ambassador nacelle modified as a hull, and a ring-shaped array of EIGHTEEN refit Connie nacelles at the rear. The name says it all. I still have the drawing for this beast. Somewhere.

These two designs are the ones that really stick out in my mind from Cargile's old website.

SF Museum doesn't have the Rommie War ship I'm looking for. Though the ones there are nice too, I have to say. But they're totally different from what I remember seeing back '99.

My e-mail must not be working b/c I got an undeliverable again when I emailed Cargile, and the link to his Starship Design site from that one Geocities site still takes me to some instructional "build-a-website" page.

PAUL CARGILE, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, YOUR OLD STARSHIP DESIGN SITE IS MISSED DEARLY.

Oh man.

I know it's been a year since this topic was started and you are lucky I was searching for something else when I ran across this.

The ship is question is the Advanced Patrol/Interdictor- 151, or Appie for short.

I'm sorry to have been a disappointment over all these years since I vanished. I'm 41 years old now and have other priorities, and don't draw like I used to. I still have all my old drawings and will be happy to post requests. (Uh-oh, now I'm committing myself.) I don't dabble in Trek anymore (and I'm in the camp that enjoyed Abram's Star Trek), but am focusing my creativity into writing science fiction, and the only time I conceptualize is when I need model an idea for better visualization.

It is unlikely that I will do another website. I don't have the time to manage one. Plus I'm wary of intellectual property theft. I do have an active account at Sci-Fi Meshes, but I only post stuff whenever I have something worth posting, or that I want to share, which is not often. There's a lot of great talent out there, a lot of great competition, a lot of guys that leave me in the dust.

About the email account: I let the hotmail addy die; too much spam. pscargile@gmail.com.

Wow, love your sketching style, and the details on that ship. I know how it is, not having time :( Hopefully you'll find more time for things like this...this is great.
(I like that shaded "Navy ship" font)

I wish I could draw decently sometimes. I'd love to draw stuff, but I can only manage stick art.

The Starfleet Military Reserves website is frozen. The account was created with an email from an ISP in the late 90's. That email account has long since been deactivated and I don't know if that ISP is still in business as it was just a small computer store/ISP. All that means is that I can't edit or delete the site. I can't do anything with the site, nor am I in any contact with any of the other contributors, who may or may not have the logon information.

Honestly, I have wanted to delete the site because I stopped working on it and have no intentions of finishing it, and I think its pretty much obsolete and irelevent due to all the stuff that has come along. Contacting Tripod to resolve the issue was like discussing quantum loop gravity theories to a four year old.

So that site is pretty much locking into a window back to 1997 or thereabouts. Ah, I had such interesting ideas for killing the Borg.

Paul, I just want to thank you for posting on here. I miss that old site and the AP was just what I looking for. Hadn't seen it since my Navy days. Many thanks. I do have one small request. I wouldn't mind seeing the ringship you created using bits of Daedelus, Constititution, or Constellation classes. Richter Jan's Wormhole Gating Test Vehicle. I thought one was unique.

Again, thank you.
