Patti Yasutake (Nurse Ogawa) has Passed Away

Oh no, how sad... I actually met her in the press room at her first convention in Germany, she was standing there looking a little lost and I asked if everything was okay and she said she was super nervous because her panel was right before Sir Patrick's (very first panel in Germany also) and she feared everyone would boo her off the stage because they wanted to see him already. I told her it would be okay. We talked a bit more and she also remarked that "you Germans are all so TALL" (lol) and we laughed and idk it was just a nice little random conversation... she was super sweet and seemed like a really wonderful person. RIP Patti.

Cancer is always terrible; my Mom passed from it in 2015, and my cousin's been fighting it for the past 3 years. Patti's family is definitely in my heart today.

How did I miss this news? Very sad. I'm surprised she was only in 16 episodes, it just seems like she was always there. I remember reading an interview with her where she was thrilled about getting to appear on the Bridge in "The Inner Light", and had an ambition to be transported (which I'm not sure if she ever got to on screen). I think her most memorable scene was in the turbolift with Wesley while playing "The Game". That looked like a lot of fun for her to play :)

I thought she was great as Dr. Ogawa in "Parallels" as well. She really just needed more screen time in general. At least the novel-verse was able to flesh her character out more.
