I know this will be treated with a lot of flames, but the purpose of this post is to helm calm the nerves of you guys who think the cannon will be disrespected. My sources have revealed to me that the heads of paramount demanded that the cannon be respected, in order to preserve the cash cow that is star trek dvd sales. In order to do so they "suggested" having a 24th centurary character appear at the beginning of the film and at the end of the film in order to show that the cannon (and time-line) have been preserved. That character is none other then ADMIRAL Jean-luc picard. Apparently he is the one responsible for allowing the older spock to use the time ship thing (according to my source) as this is a recent development for the 25th(yes thats right) century federation. At the end of the film, the older spock returns reporting to Jean-luc hence showing the time line has been preserved.

I'm not asking anyone to believe me yet, but remember this post once you have watched this movie in May. Then I can say I told you so.

Aw...why start a fuss that will blow this thread up to a couple of hundred contentious posts?

I think this is unlikely, but I'm willing to just bookmark it and come back to it - if that seems worthwhile - on May 9th. ;)

Ta.

I would deeply love this to be true. Any chance I can have Scott Bakula in old age make-up watching the Enterprise depart on its maiden voyage? That is, if they really want to reference the most recent cast...

No?

Oh well, maybe the Christmas after never.

If it happens, I'll claim I KNEW IT! all along because of this thread.
If it doesn't, I'll claim I knew this thread was pants 'cos I'm ever so perceptive like that.

None shall see through my dastardly plan! BWAHAHA!!

My sources have told me that William Shatner's face is going to be digitally inserted onto Chris Pine's body, so that Shatner can be in the movie in more than a cameo.

What? This is thread for this sort of thing, isn't it?

Read some place that the date of the death of Archer is right after the launch of NCC - 1701. Not sure it is with Kirk or not, and not sure the date. Still, do we really want to copy what happened with the first show of TNG?

Archer's bio file in the Defiant's database in Enterprise's MU two-parter states Archer died in 2245 after the launch of the 1701 under April's command (yes, it actually mentions April).

Sure why not? The events of Star Trek First Contact, meant Cochrane was seen twice in ENT and directly referenced a couple of times. I'd like something better than an off-colour joke about an Admiral "Archer" losing his beagle in a transporter accident...

Plus seeing De walk side by side with Brent is up there with the Star Trek greatest moments. Whatever your personal opinon about Enterprise, it's a tradition worth keeping...

the way you described it, makes it not plausible and would make the movie be not good.

Why would Abrams bookend his new take on Trek with Stewart's bald head?

Why am I even responding to this?

Weird is it not that some humans can live to a ripe old age but nothing is ever talked about why human live to be so old. Archer and McCoy both live past the age of 140 and who also lives to be so long.

Hey, maybe Picard can live to the ago of 160 to see the launch of the Enterprise F, or Enterprise G, or whatever.

I was thinking of an image of an aged, made-up Bakula holding a puddle of goo at the end of a leash.

A lawyer friend told me that this is absolutely true, and that Pine's mother is launching a massive and groundbreaking lawsuit against Paramount for undue infliction of emotional distress. She's released a statement: "This is a thing that no parent should ever have to experience..."

Since Star Trek is breaking so much in cannon we can have Picard with a WIG!!

IDEA!! We can have Billy Gibbons from ZZ TOP to play PICARD. There will be HAIR !!!!!!!!!

Ok, yeah. But ...
... source?

Gawd. Can't believe I read and responded.
Must. Have. More. Coffee. :vulcan:

If this is true, I'll be very happy.

I doubt it sincerely, no offense, but I hope you're right. It would help quash a great deal of issues, and make a lot of 24th century fans (like me) very, very happy.

I can honestly say, if this turns out to be legitimate, I'll no longer have any major issues with this film.

Iam just happy that they are making a star trek movie, lets see how things go, making to many assumptions is a bad thing, wars were started on bad assumptions, never a good thing ;)
