Passing two and from the mirror universe too easy

it seems to me that's it way too easy to pass through the mirror universe, apparently some transporter techie thingy makes it possible to do so on a regular basis.

If it's so easy why don't you have federation people covertly supplying Terran rebels, or mirror Klingon/cardassian trying support their "own" governments.

I mean it's a contrivance but an incredibly stupid one when you think about it-why aren't their loads of Terran refugees, why isn't intendant Kira arrested when she pulls her orb theft stunt, or why the alliance doesn't invade the federation(I know something similar happens in STO)

It just makes so little sense.

It's absolutely insane to think you can just go to the Mirror universe using a transporter.

In Mirror, Mirror, the two universes had to be aligned in some way, and the prime universe landing party only had a short time to get back. If they didn't get back then, they'd be stuck permanently. The time window aspect was abandoned in the DS9 Mirror arc.

You'd think Customs would have stopped them.
Can you imagine the legal issues of a refugee-yourself fleeing from the mirro me verse? Or if you go to the mirror side and your arrested for crimes "your" counterpart committed?

Much less the psychological and social consequences of such a thing.

pales in comparison to the threat of.....Bureaucracy.

I was thinking more of a "Do you have any Moral Codes of Ethics in your possession sir? We cannot pollute our reality with foriegn idealism. Also, do you have any Tantalus Fields or Futuristic technology to declare...there is a tax on any Empire Changing Technology. You'll also need to fill out the 108923472815908345624358423051789045.9 forms required."

...far worse than being arrested.

It was a magnetic storm that disrupted the transporter circuits and made the connection between universes. That sounds like a pretty easy thing for the Rebels to replicate once they know how it works. Just like Geordi recreating a time vortex at the end of First Contact. Blam! Done. :)

What if you meet another version of yourself that's very different than you? More successful? Less? Evil? Good?

What if the girl that meanly broke up with you in the prime verse was your spouse in the mirror?

How would governments handle the technological disparities or the differences of institutional character in equivalent governments? How will the prime directive apply? How will governments handle the immigration and emigration flows?

Among other concerns heck we could have a Star Trek Multiverse series.

I tend to ignore the DS9 mirror universe episodes ever happened. Every single one is beyond terrible.

...what you have here is the making of a new series: Star Trek: Judge Judy

I pretend it doesn't exist. Its one of those wibbly wobbly timey wimey things that only comes into existence when the 'prime' people do something when they enter and once they leave, it's gone. Either that or it's like my take on Threshold. Someone's bad dream.

I would have been happier if DS-9 had not done any of the Mirror Universe shows at all. They took a fascinating concept and turned it into a pedestrian story line. It did give the actors a change to overact and have fun, plus a few got a great death scene without having their character killed off for real.

I did like how Enterprise bookended the original Mirror episode, showing us what happened to the Defiant.

I'd escape the mirror universe if I could, I'm sure in the prime universe, Donald Trump is a selfless progressive philanthropist.

Alternate timelines are one of those things like time travel that can make great episodes in small doses but the more you go to the well the more it breaks and trivializes the universe.

The DS9 MU episodes were mostly poor.

The wormhole may have eased the transition somehow. Safer than an ion storm...the transporter made like the double-sit experiment and split.

The transporter is Godmode tech. With one patch (presumably the gizmo in DS9 downloaded some software into the transporter?) you can beam to another universe, and probably infinite others with further mods. With another patch (from the Prime future of the Kelvin movies), you can beam pretty much anywhere. With some weird additional circumstances you can duplicate someone. You can cure old age or all illness.

I'd LOVE Trek to tackle the implications of all this. It wouldn't be the Trek we know, but It'd be really fascinating viewing/reading.

If travel within the multiverse is so easy then why isn't there flourishing multi-universal trade. A whole industry where people meet and get to know their quantum counterparts.

Why aren't there multiversal wars, colonization enterprises among other things. Why aren't scientists and geniuses collaborating with their duplicates.

Does every Bajoran's mirror have a pagh or just prime bajorans? Or what really?

I mean if their going to use multiple universes why not explore this stuff in more detail. So many questions so few answers.
