And canvassing sucks.
Canvassing is fun! It's phone-banking that sucks. Give me doors any day...

I dunno, a slammed door hurts more than a slammed phone.

I do wish they had thrown in a scene with the canvassers knocking on door after door with no answer. When Leslie remarked on how someone was home, I expected the person to walk away not answering the door (while non-discretely closing the blinds). That's real canvassing!

Indeed. That would have been a good one to add in, because there's nothing more demoralizing than finally getting someone home and having them blank you like that. Assholes.
And I hate canvassing, by the way. Phones, doors, doesn't matter, though there is a much higher direct personal insult quotient with Phone. Miserable goddamned thing to do either way.![]()
"Reno 911" does a much better job with the whole unscripted/improvised-from-an-outline mode of storytelling. P&R has potential, but I'm not sure it will ever realize that potential. The unscripted, documentary feel of "Reno 911" works because it plays on the popularity of "COPS", "World's Most Dangerous Chases" and other similar reality shows. To the best of my knowledge, their aren't any popular reality shows about low-level bureaucrats, so P&R doesn't really have an already popular reality show counterpart to play off of.
Parks & Rec isn't a reality show. It's a comedy in the same vain as shows like 30 Rock and The Office.
