Parks and Recreation - Season 4 Discussion

The Emmys might have given Modern Family all the Rewards, but my favorite comedy premiered tonight, and it was as loveable and bubbly as ever. I swear this show doesn't seem to lose a step from season to season and this was a strong premiere. Leslie running for office, April as manager (Hysterical) and Ron getting away from Tammy 1 were all great storylines. Still, the stuff parodying Anthony Wiener was funny as heck, even if it was that kind of "humor". Having Anne's cell phone go off over and over was great and Chris's reaction to all of it was priceless.

I'm glad this show is back and the cast is as strong as ever. Already looking forward to next week.

Oh My God that episode was brilliant. From the Chris and Anne scenes to the drink off I was laughing throughout. We should have gotten a Tammy I vs. Tammy II show-off but I have a feeling that is coming later on this season. What we did get though is why Parks and Recreation is the best show on TV. Do have to admit though Ron with no facial hair was kind of creepy.

tomalak301, did you stop watching Glee?

No. I still post in the season discussion thread here too, as I thought this last episode was really good. However, my favorite show of the week is Parks and Rec so it's the show I look forward to the most.

This was another great episode. Have to wonder now if Parks and Recreation is the most consistant thing on TV. Kind of makes me wish I was watching Modern Family to actually get a comparison.

The stuff with Joan was awesome, as usual as she is one of the more underrated recurring characters on the show. Also, loved Ron and April with Anne and Bert Maclin came back. How great was that?

I also agree, Ron is the best character on TV, but Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope is just so darn adorable.

Yeah, I could never get into Poehler on SNL. I thought she was overused and hated the way she giggled and mugged through Weekend Update. But on Parks she is utterly charming.

I liked the chemistry between Amy Poehler and Tina Fay, and then Poehler and Mayers. Again, it was that charming factor that sold me on her, but I agree that she did have a tendency to giggle a lot.

See, every one's different. I liked Fey with Fallon but hated her with Poehler and it took "30 Rock" for me to start liking Fey again.

Fey and Poehler are obviously good friends in real life and I think, rather than challenge each other, that friendship made them a little too fast and loose with the news segments. They basically giggled and tee-heed through the whole thing like sorority sisters telling jokes to each other.

And Seth Myers is just poor no matter who he's paired with.

Of course, at this point, with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert doing "update" every night, and better, there's really no point in SNL still doing that skit, other than a sense of "tradition."
